Job Description




As a Security Officer - Access Control in Fort Madison, IA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Food/Beverage, and more. As an Allied Universal Access Control Officer at a food and beverage location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, greet employees and visitors with strong customer service, and document arrivals, departures, and deliveries. You will conduct routine patrols of assigned areas, remain visible to help discourage security-related incidents, and communicate clearly with site leaders and your team. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to visitors, contractors, vendors, and employees by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Control access at entrances and gates by checking identification, validating authorization, issuing visitor credentials, and maintaining visitor, vendor, and contractor logs.
  • Coordinate with site personnel to verify appointments, delivery schedules, and access permissions for production, warehouse, and office areas.
  • Screen packages, bags, and personal items as directed by site policy, and document exceptions and/or prohibited items per post orders.
  • Manage inbound and outbound vehicle traffic, including commercial deliveries and pickups, by verifying paperwork, directing drivers to designated docks, and recording arrival and departure details.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, and access control systems, report irregular activity, and escalate issues through the chain of command.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Perform routine checks of doors, gates, and controlled areas to help maintain compliance with access procedures and reduce unauthorized entry.
  • Complete written and/or electronic reports, including incident reports, access logs, and shift activity summaries, with accurate details and timely submission.
  • Communicate professionally with local management, employees, and responding public services personnel during alarms, disruptions, and operational impacts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • - CPR certification is preferred.
  • - Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • - Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • - As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • - Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • - As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • - Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • - A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
