Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc. is hiring PMTS Software Development Engineers to: Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Plan, design, develop and/or test software systems for software enhancements and new products. Set operational specifications and formulate and/or analyze software requirements. Develop and optimize low-level GPU kernels to accelerate inference and training of large machine learning models. Maximize the computational efficiency and reduce execution time while ensuring model accuracy. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Design and implement strategies for distributed model training and inference across multiple GPUs and nodes. Address data parallelism and model parallelism challenges to fully utilize available resources. Exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments. Participate in code reviews, creating unit tests, authoring detailed documentation related to your work, and working with on-site and offshore teams to deliver the software solutions on schedule. Partake in all phases of the software development including system requirements analysis, coordinating feature design and development across functional and organization boundaries. Utilize expertise with computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Five (5) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field and seven (7) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires five (5) years of experience in the following:

  • Designing, building, and training Machine Learning (ML) models using techniques like Natural Language Processing (NLP);
  • Developing and deploying Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) models with TensorFlow;
  • Designing, implementing, and optimizing machine learning algorithms for specific tasks like classification, prediction, or clustering;
  • Data modeling over unstructured and semi-structured data;
  • Using Python for building and training models and data analysis;
  • Using SQL to access and manage large datasets for machine learning models;
  • Utilizing Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) to improve the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of machine learning models in production; and
  • Understanding Object-Oriented Design (OOD) principles to design and build scalable and maintainable Machine Learning (ML) systems.
