Position Summary:

The Senior Quality Engineer is a senior individual contributor responsible for the development, execution, and continuous improvement of the site Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, FAA regulatory requirements, and applicable customer and PCC standards. This role serves as a technical expert for quality systems and regulatory compliance, with primary responsibility for audit readiness, corrective action effectiveness, special process oversight (Heat Treat, NDT, Coatings), and direct interface with regulatory agencies. The Senior Quality Engineer leads complex quality initiatives, and partners closely with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure the continued production of flight-critical hardware.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Quality Management System & Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain and improve assigned elements of the AS9100-compliant QMS in alignment with FAA, NADCAP, and customer requirements.
  • Support FAA audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions as a technical quality interface.
  • Ensure controlled documentation (procedures, work instructions, forms, records retention) remains compliant, current, and audit-ready.
  • Support process change management activities affecting regulated processes.
  • Interpret regulatory, industry, and customer requirements and translate them into executable quality controls.

Audit Program Execution

  • Plan, conduct, and lead internal audits in accordance with AS9100 and NADCAP requirements.
  • Support customer, third-party, NADCAP, and FAA audits, serving as a primary technical responder.
  • Drive timely closure of audit findings through root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and effectiveness verification.
  • Escalate systemic or high-risk findings to the Senior Quality Manager with data-based recommendations.

NADCAP & Special Process Oversight

  • Provide quality leadership and oversight for NADCAP-accredited special processes, including:
  • Lead NADCAP readiness activities, internal assessments, and audit responses for assigned scopes.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations to ensure process qualifications, validations, and controls meet NADCAP and customer requirements.

Corrective & Preventive Action (CAPA)

  • Lead and facilitate complex root cause investigations using structured methodologies, including:
  • Coordinate systemic corrective actions, ensuring proper containment, risk assessment, and recurrence prevention.
  • Analyze quality escapes and drive corrective or preventive actions with measurable effectiveness.
  • Verify CAPA effectiveness through data analysis, follow-up audits, and performance monitoring.

Customer Portals & External Reporting

  • Serve as a primary quality user for customer quality portals, ensuring accurate and timely submission of:
  • Coordinate cross-functional inputs for customer portal responses and ensure alignment with internal CAPA records.
  • Monitor portal-driven metrics, findings, and customer feedback; escalate systemic risks as needed.

Quality Data, Metrics & Reporting

  • Analyze and report quality performance metrics, including:
  • Support development and use of dashboards and scorecards to drive focused improvement actions.
  • Provide regular quality performance updates to leadership and support management reviews.

Product, Process & Customer Requirements

  • Ensure FAI / AS9102 readiness and delivery for new and modified products.
  • Develop and maintain inspection plans, control plans, PFMEAs, and quality deliverables.
  • Review CMM and inspection data to support qualification of new products and production tooling.
  • Support MRB activities and disposition of nonconforming material in compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.

Training, Culture & Technical Leadership

  • Deliver and facilitate training on QMS requirements, customer expectations, and quality tools, including:
  • Facilitate problem-solving workshops and corrective action reviews to build organizational capability.
  • Mentor Quality Engineers and Quality Inspectors on disciplined problem-solving and regulatory expectations.
  • Promote a culture of compliance, accountability, and data-driven decision-making.

Supplier Quality

  • Support supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) and verify timely and effective closure.
  • Review supplier performance metrics and support supplier improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with suppliers on quality and process issues (minimal travel).

General

  • Sets the standard for working safely and following all safety policies, leading by example, and participating in companywide and department safety events.
  • Actively participate in the MRB process, supporting evaluation, disposition, and documentation. Ensure MRB disposition complies with engineering, customer, and regulator requirements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to define inspection, test, and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable government, industry, and customer standards.
  • Ability to prepare and present technical presentations to cross functional teams and leadership.

Required Skills:

  • Trouble shooting skills with focus on process improvement.
  • Lean manufacturing basics
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft applications
  • ASQ Quality Engineer certification (desired)
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and NADCAP systems
  • Knowledge of gauging methodology and metrology
  • Understanding of assembly methods, fixtures, tooling, and fabrication methods
  • Experience in Quality Assurance within the aerospace industry and a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated skills in statistical analysis, process control, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Strong project management skills
  • Six Sigma certification (desired)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of quality engineering experience in aerospace or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise with AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Direct experience with NADCAP audits and special processes (Heat Treat, NDT, Coatings).
  • Experience operating under direct FAA oversight.
  • Strong working knowledge of SPC, PFMEA, control plans, metrology, and inspection systems.
  • Proven ability to lead audits and complex corrective actions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality data analysis tools.
  • Experience with Frozen Planning and Flight Safety

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $106000 to $145000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1.25X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
