What is the opportunity?

The Complex Director (CD) holds a critical leadership position within the Private Client Group (PCG), overseeing a network of branches. As the primary supervisor, the CD manages all complex personnel, including Branch Directors (BDs), Financial Advisors (FAs), support staff, and operational teams, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and compliance standards. This role is central to driving growth, profitability, and operational excellence across the assigned branches.

Key responsibilities include leading business development initiatives, talent recruitment and retention, and fostering community engagement to strengthen the organization's market presence. The CD also serves as the BD for the complex's main office, balancing supervisory duties with limited personal production.

By translating strategic vision into actionable results, the CD plays a pivotal role in achieving the Private Client Group's long-term objectives while maintaining high standards of performance and client service.

What will you do?

  • Actively recruit FAs and Associates, ensuring proper training and ongoing development for new hires.
  • Ensure FAs have the necessary tools and resources to grow their businesses in collaboration with BDs.
  • Supervise all operations and performance of Branch Directors (BDs) and Financial Advisors (FAs) within the complex.
  • Conduct performance assessments for direct reports and collaborate with the Divisional Director to set Individual Performance Objectives for BDs.
  • Work with the Divisional Director to develop and actively manage the complex's budget to meet financial targets.
  • Partner with leadership and home office teams to create and execute marketing plans aimed at boosting revenue, market share, and brand recognition.
  • Define roles, establish escalation processes, and conduct quarterly branch visits to maintain operational integrity and compliance.
  • Promote RBC's vision, align employee goals with organizational objectives, foster teamwork, and lead change initiatives effectively.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 10+ years of financial services experience, including 3+ years in a BD or leadership role, with advanced knowledge of wealth management, securities laws, and branch operations.
  • Holds required licenses (Series 3, 7, 8/9/10, 63/65 or 66) and state-specific insurance licenses (Life/Health/Variable/Long Term Care).
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, drive business growth, and oversee complex financial operations in a competitive environment.
  • Demonstrated skills in mentoring, influencing, and leading independent advisors, with strong interpersonal and presentation capabilities.
  • Ability to analyze client needs, ensure policy adherence, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment.
