Summary of Role:

The Home Equity Closing Specialist completes the loan application process by scheduling the closing and preparing the closing documents. They ensure excellent member service with timely and accurate closing preparation. The Home Equity Closing Specialist communicates regularly with members via various channels, including phone and email. The Specialist uses a proactive service approach, taking ownership of their assigned role and working as part of a team. The Home Equity Closing Specialist is also a champion for the use of digital loan processing solutions.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Assist members and internal customers with questions and problems related to Broadview home equity loans.

  • Prepare home equity closing packets accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Ensure proof of homeowner's insurance is received and accurate.

  • Cross-selling Broadview products and services.

  • Assist branches with closing questions.

  • Work with Retail Loan Servicing to maintain the County Recording fee chart.

  • Remain current on state and federal regulations that govern lending.

  • Maintain current branch closing groups in Outlook.

  • Monitors multiple Home Equity Closing queues and the functions within each queue, ensuring that service levels for scheduling and document preparation are met.

  • Accurate closing documents to enable lien filing and accurate booking.

  • Communicates directly with members regarding their loan applications in a highly effective and professional manner through multiple channels, including phone, email, and web messaging.

  • Uses a proactive service delivery approach to maximize each member interaction, sets expectations with the member for remainder of the loan process and works to move applications toward funding.

  • Is proficient in all technical applications, including Loan Origination System, Intranet, Internet, and has in-depth knowledge of our core systems.

  • Attend all appropriate job-related external and in-house training provided by the credit union and departmental staff meetings.

  • Support the annual strategic goals demonstrating consistent effort to achieve assigned individual and team goals.

  • Acts as a champion for the use of digital loan processing solutions, including the online/mobile loan application, the Mobile Application Center and DocuSign.

  • Look for efficiencies, improvements, and new ideas to meet goals.

  • Actively participates in Broadview's community initiatives, meeting expectations for volunteering.

  • Provide mentoring and resources to support ongoing development of Home Equity Lending staff.

  • Responsible for handling internal and external inquiries for assistance and guidance.

  • Demonstrate strong problem resolution skills by conducting research through various resources and solving problems independently.

  • Assist with projects, as needed.

  • Help train new closing staff.

  • Partner with Branch and Retail Loan Servicing to resolve closing/documentation errors.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications:
  • High School diploma (or GED).

  • 1 - 2 years related experience and/or training; and 6 months experience or training with the loan origination system preferred.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Prior experience in customer/member service and cross selling within a financial services environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, ability to use Adobe.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong mathematical skills.

  • Proficiency in the preparation of loan documents for real estate related transactions.

  • Demonstrate ability to lead, mentor and train co-workers, strong knowledge of Credit Union and lending goals, policies, procedures, processes, and decision-making parameters. Ability to act independently.

  • Skilled in effectively handling member service issues; including service recovery.

  • Self-motivated with enthusiasm for working independently in a team environment; strong prioritization skills.

Starting Compensation:$22.62 - $27.15/hr., plus a competitive benefits package
