What to Expect

Tesla'sCathode Advanced Manufacturing Project teamis looking for a highly motivated individual tobe aProjectEngineersupporting thePilot scalefacilitiesinFremont,CA.This is a cross-functional role that requires coordination betweenmanydifferent groups acrossTeslainEngineering,Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Production Planning, Operations, Executive team as well as groups external to Tesla.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background inprojectmanagement andexecutionwith a technical knowledge of chemical process manufacturing.You, as a Project Engineer,willdriveprojects from concept through install, integration, ramp, and handover tooperationsas wellaslead technical initiatives(i.e.process development, operational efficiency, reliability improvements)to be performed by the cross-functional team.


What You'll Do
  • Work withCathode Engineering,FactoryDesign, Quality, Operations, and other supporting functions to scope and drivedesignsfor deployment ofmaterialsforproduction equipment

  • Determineproject specifications andacquirethe necessary materials for completion

  • Develop scope anddefineparameters for project design and implementation

  • Define and drive tasks to be performed by the cross-functional team

  • Identifycreative ways to overcome obstacles and meet the schedule despite setbacks

  • Drive review and selection of external equipment vendors and integrators fordelivery ofselected manufacturing project scope

  • Coordinate internal and external engineering findings to de-risk plant design andoptimize plant operations and availability

  • Track budget, equipment orders, and change order logs


What You'll Bring
  • Evidence of exceptional ability, including a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals anddemonstratedability toleveragethis understanding to solve challenging technical problems

  • Bachelors' degree in Chemical, Mechanical or ElectricalEngineering or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years inmanufacturing environment, in a mix of engineering and project roles. Experienceworkingon thedevelopment ofchemical processingis a plus

  • Direct experience in planningmediumcapital projects (>$250KUSD) related topilot-scalechemical processing systems, utilitysystemsand integration of the two

  • Ability to workand communicatecross-functionally, including interfacing with suppliers andthird-party firms

  • Proven ability tooperateunder pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Must be able to work in afast pacedenvironment, occasionally requiring extended hours

  • Aptitudeto learn and incorporatenew technologies

  • Ability toidentifyissues anddevelopcorrective measures toresolve

  • Detailoriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills

    Expected Compensation
    $96,800 - $168,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
