Job Description




As a Security Officer - Government Visitor Desk in Houston, TX, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As a Front Desk Officer at a government location, you will be the welcoming first point of contact, supporting access control, visitor check-in, badge management, phone and radio communications, and incident documentation while helping to maintain a professional, orderly lobby. You will use Allied Universal tools and customer-focused communication to support security-related operations, bringing an agile, reliable, and innovative mindset, backed by teamwork, integrity, and a caring culture that puts people first.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and contractors at a government facility front desk by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Screen and process guest check-in, issue and recover visitor badges and/or credentials, and maintain a professional reception area presence.
  • Verify identification and appointment information, route visitors to the correct department, and coordinate approvals as required by site policy.
  • Monitor access points and report suspicious or unusual activity to the appropriate personnel to help to deter unauthorized entry.
  • Operate and monitor security-related systems such as cameras, alarm panels, intercoms, and/or access control systems, and report system issues per protocol.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating to supervisors and/or emergency services as needed.
  • Document incidents, visitor logs, deliveries, and other required activity in written and/or electronic reports with accurate, timely details.
  • Control delivery and package intake procedures for the lobby area, directing couriers to designated locations and notifying recipients per site policy.
  • Provide directions and general information while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive government-related information and processes.
  • Support site emergency procedures such as notifications, shelter-in-place guidance, and/or evacuation coordination as directed by site leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have at least 6 months of security-related experience.
  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet preferred.
  • Have customer service experience preferred.
  • Have X-Ray screening experience preferred.
  • Have CPR and/or First Aid experience preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
