Job Description




As a Security Officer - Shipping Gate Monitor in West Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a busy logistics and distribution location, you will monitor entry points, verify badges and credentials, manage visitor access, and conduct routine patrols to help to deter security-related incidents. You will stay highly visible, communicate clearly with team members and site leadership, and deliver customer-focused assistance to drivers and associates. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to site personnel, drivers, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Control access at entrances, guard shacks, and/or loading dock areas by verifying identification, issuing visitor credentials, and directing authorized individuals to the proper location.
  • Screen and process visitors, contractors, and vendors by completing sign-in requirements, confirming appointments, and maintaining visitor logs in accordance with site procedures.
  • Manage vehicle and trailer entry and exit by checking driver identification, reviewing shipping documentation when required, and documenting arrivals and departures.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras, alarm panels, and access control systems to help identify unusual activity and report concerns per post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including contacting site leadership and/or emergency services as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized access and report hazards or suspicious activity.
  • Complete detailed shift reports and incident documentation, including access control activity, irregularities, and follow-up actions, and communicate information during shift turnovers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Access Control/Badge Experience is preferred.
  • Customer Service Experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
