Job Summary:

The Buyer is responsible for acquiring products and services for Florida Blue in accordance industry best practices. This role will streamline the number of enterprise-wide suppliers, build and maintain relationships, and drive cost savings to contribute to the organization's overall performance and efficiencies.

Essential Functions:

Identify Supply Needs: Utilize industry knowledge to determine local and regional supply needs, methodologies, and approaches for acquiring goods and services.

Align Business Partner Goals: Collaborate with internal business partners, conducting research and assessments to understand their needs and expectations.

Communicate Procurement Procedures: Translate purchasing procedures to internal business partners and suppliers using technical knowledge and communication skills.

Provide Contractual Advice: Offer general contractual and commercial advice to internal business partners and other stakeholders.

Negotiate with Suppliers: Obtain and respond to competitive price quotes, negotiating procurement details with suppliers.

Drive Cost Savings: Purchase specialized or complex materials, equipment, and services while achieving significant cost savings.

Build Supplier Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal business partners and key suppliers to improve performance.

Develop and Achieve Objectives: Create and achieve objectives for cost management, supplier management, and process improvements.

Resolve Conflicts: Address conflicts concerning materials or services at the department and supplier levels.

Continuously Improve Processes: Evaluate and recommend improvement opportunities, collaborating with stakeholders and department input to drive process improvements.

Required Experience:

  • 3+ years related work experience in a procurement organization.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Additional Requirements:

Procurement Expertise: Demonstrated success in procurement technology, contract management, spend analysis, and purchasing principles, practices, terminology, and procedures.

Contract Management: Knowledge of contract drafting, terminology, and subtleties of contract language, with ability to negotiate low to mid-complexity contracts.

Cost Management: Proven ability to manage cost performance, supply/demand forecasting, and drive cost savings.

Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with ability to interact with various audiences.

Technical Skills: Proficient in analyzing complex technical specifications and bids, with ability to use multiple procurement software applications (moderately complex to complex).

Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiator with ability to drive towards win-win solutions, understanding business, risk, and financial aspects of a deal.

Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.

Ethical Standards: Adherence to highest ethical standards, maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all interactions.

Market Knowledge: Knowledge of materials, products, and commodity markets in area of specialization, with ability to evaluate and recommend improvement opportunities.

Software Proficiency: Ability to operate a PC, with working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and procurement software applications, and ability to evaluate and recommend improvements to software functionality and performance.

Annualized Salary Range: $59,800 - $97,100

Typical Annualized Hiring Range: $59,800 - $74,700

Final pay will be determined with consideration of market competitiveness, internal equity, and the job-related knowledge, skills, training, and experience you bring.
