Responsibilities

Promotes healing of acutely ill patients whose cardiac or pulmonary systems have been compromised through illness or injury through the provision of respiratory care, diagnostic testing, providing for the psycho-social needs of the patient, and patient education. Encourages and enhances the progression and efficient operation of the Respiratory Services Department. Treats patients from newborn, pediatrics, adolescents, young, middle, and older adults. When requested, assists day-to-day operations of the Respiratory Department, referring out-of-the -ordinary issues to the Manager and/or Medical Director, as appropriate. Provides diagnostic testing to the patient to help optimize the total care given. Performs arterial punctures for blood gas analysis; knowledge in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and quality control of ABG analyzers. Abilities to use mechanical ventilators, bi-level ventilation equipment, peak flow meters, ability to perform respiratory assessment, and perform CPT.



Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program.
2. Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
3. Current Nevada State Respiratory Care Practitioner license required
4. Current BLS (AHA) required.
5. Current ACLS (AHA) certification required within 90 days of hire.
6. PALS (AHA) certification required within 180 days of hire.
7. Blood Gas Technologist licensed (LIC BGT) licensed by the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services within 90 days of hire.
8. Equipment use limited to license type.
9. Strong interpersonal skills & excellent customer service skills required and basic computer literacy required.
10. High level of analytical ability required in preparing care plans, implementing effective treatment regimens, and developing solutions to complex issues concerning patients with cardiopulmonary dysfunction.
11. Demonstrates ability to work in an area characterized by a high need for critical thinking, constant attention to detail and frequent interruptions.
12. Position requires ability to take call and fulfill call rotation/on-call duties and responsibilities.
13. Experience: Knowledge of the general/specific tasks necessary to the practice of Respiratory Care; requires demonstrated competency in the ability and knowledge to effectively care for the pediatric to geriatric patient.
