About the Opportunity:

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and improving maintenance work execution across all manufacturing assets. This role focuses on long-term reliability, backlog control, PM optimization, and data accuracy, not daily wrench-turning. Success is measured by improved uptime, reduced reactive work, and technician efficiency. This position requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Location: Thomasville, GA

Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop detailed job plans (scope, labor hours, safety steps, tools, parts)
  • Maintain a 2-8-week forward maintenance schedule
  • Ensure work orders are fully planned and ready before scheduling
  • Coordinate weekly schedules with maintenance leadership and production
  • Balance planned vs reactive work to reduce unplanned downtime

Preventive Maintenance Program

  • Build and optimize PMs using:
    • OEM recommendations
    • Failure history
    • Reliability best practices
  • Standardize PM execution
  • Eliminate low-value or redundant PMs
  • Track and improve PM compliance

Backlog & Reliability Management

  • Maintain prioritized maintenance backlog
  • Control backlog aging and work readiness
  • Support root cause analysis and failure trend reviews
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives

CMMS Ownership

  • Maintain asset hierarchy accuracy
  • Create standardized work order templates
  • Ensure accurate labor, failure codes, and completion notes
  • Collaborate with Parts Specialist to attach BOMs and parts lists
  • Generate KPI reports for leadership

Key KPIs

  • PM compliance
  • Schedule compliance
  • Planned vs reactive work ratio
  • Maintenance backlog (weeks)
  • Work order readiness %

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 3+ years maintenance planning or coordination experience
  • CMMS experience (Asset Essentials, Maximo, SAP, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical systems
  • Ability to read schematics and OEM documentation

Preferred:

  • CNC maintenance environment experience
  • Prior technician background
  • Reliability or RCM exposure
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills
