Position Summary

The Outpatient Special Procedures Therapist is an advanced-level Respiratory Care Practitioner who demonstrates independent decision-making, effective prioritization, and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare environment. This role focuses on specialized outpatient procedures and supports high-quality patient care through the following primary functions. This position is responsible for routine maintenance and quality control. The therapist collaborates with Respiratory Therapy leadership to maintain operational excellence and clinical standards for outpatient special procedures. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety and education.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive pulmonary function tests to assess lung capacity, airflow, and gas exchange, ensuring accurate results and patient safety.
  • Provide technical and clinical support during bronchoscopies, including Robotic, EBUS, Biopsy, and BAL procedures, while maintaining sterile technique and equipment readiness.
  • Obtain arterial blood samples and perform precise analysis to evaluate oxygenation, ventilation, and acid-base balance, adhering to established protocols and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the care team to deliver pulmonary rehabilitation services, including patient assessment, exercise guidance, and monitoring progress toward respiratory health goals.
  • Educate patients and families on respiratory procedures, test results, and treatment plans, promoting understanding and adherence to care recommendations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Therapy training program, with additional college courses as required by the NBRC
  • Bachelors degree, preferred
  • Certified as Respiratory Care Practitioner with the State of Washington
  • Current Reg Respiratory Therapst (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Current BLS - Basic Life Support (includes RQI)
  • Current ACLS (includes RQI)
  • Current PALS (includes RQI)
  • Minimum two (2) years clinical experience with one year in the area of pulmonary function testing

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $38.00 - $54.68 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
