HOW WILL YOU HELP DRIVE THE FUTURE OF NATURAL GAS?
Works under general supervision for the support, configuration, data administration, and testing of computer systems and applications core to Gas Control. Configures, implements, and maintains systems and supporting technology to facilitate effective Gas Control operations. Works closely with controllers, engineers, and technical staff to deliver solutions that meet the current and future business goals of Gas Control, Engineering, and Operations. Facilitates the optimization of departmental performance by enhancing the alignment between business processes and technology. Serves as a liaison between Gas Control and those who provide technical support for systems, namely IT and software vendors.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- High School Diploma from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required. Must include system support experience in a utility environment.
- A degree in Information Systems or a related field from an accredited institution may be considered in lieu of some experience.
- Demonstrated ability to apply technology solutions to business problems.
- Must demonstrate developed skills in analysis and problem solving, successfully applying skills to situations of higher complexity in a logically and in a timely manner
- Advanced proficiency in SharePoint and Microsoft Excel
- Technical aptitude, forward-thinking abilities, creativity, initiative, and resourcefulness
- Must have demonstrated excellent attention to detail and strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learns and performs basic configuration and tests computer-based applications which support Gas Control. With guidance, provides support for SCADA systems and other applications, interfaces and processes. Independently defines scope and objectives for assigned small to medium sized tasks.
- Creates reports, queries and data extracts of low complexity, providing data to users as requested. Monitors supported applications to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Serves as a liaison between Gas Control and other technical groups. Develops relationships with key customers including face-to-face, on-site interactions. Conducts meetings and communicates with end-users and stakeholders to provide timely and accurate information and updates.
- Accountable for maintaining the Gas Control department's Alarm Management Plan.
- Provide support to Gas Control staff for all technology related functionality and process improvements.
WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE?
- A degree in Information Systems or related field from an accredited institution may be considered in lieu of some experience.
- Previous experience as SCADA system administrator.
- Good working knowledge (hands-on experience) of VB.net.
- Experience creating SQL queries.
- SharePoint experience including system administration and SharePoint Designer.
- Experience in a Gas Control environment.
- Knowledge of natural gas distribution operations.
- Working knowledge of the design and operational characteristics of natural gas distribution systems, including gate stations and regulator stations.

WHERE AND HOW YOU WILL WORK
- Will be required to work varied shifts depending on seasonal, operational, or scheduling needs. Will be required to be on-call for technology support; this department is staffed 24/7.
- Storm duties may require offsite relocation including overnights during and after a storm.

Incident Response Assignment
Our community relies on Peoples Gas to respond swiftly and effectively to all types of incidents, including but not limited to major storm events (e.g., extreme cold, tropical storms, hurricanes), gas leaks, equipment failures, environmental hazards, and other emergencies that may impact public safety or service continuity.
