Title: Associate Director of Faculty Development (Lecturer) Executive Area: Academic Affairs College/School/MBU: Admin Support Units Department: Office Faculty Development Work Location: Amherst Schedule: Full Time Work Arrangement: Onsite Job Summary The UMass Amherst Office of Faculty Development (OFD) seeks a non-tenure-track faculty position with a 100% FTE calendar-year (12-month) appointment for the position of Associate Director of Faculty Development. The Director reports to the Associate Provost for Faculty Development (APFD) and creates, implements, and evaluates a set of signature programs, resources and new initiatives to enhance the success of all faculty. The Associate Director also participates in analysis of surveys of faculty needs and satisfaction to inform this programming. The Associate Director is responsible for a set of faculty development program areas or initiatives, which will involve mentoring faculty within the program area, facilitating workshops and panels, developing or updating resources, and other activities, consistent with the mission of the Office of Faculty Development and the Associate Director's interests and expertise.
Possible signature programming areas of responsibility include: Early Career Mid-Career Advanced Career Supporting NTT Scholarly Writing Mutual Mentoring Leadership Essentials and/or Faculty Directors in Leadership Development Community, Inclusion & Well-being
Areas of responsibility could also include the Office of Faculty Development's partner programming in Research & Engagement and Awards & Recognition.
Candidates for this position must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with faculty and staff. They must work to build and sustain effective working relationships and work collaboratively to promote teamwork, diversity, equity, inclusiveness, and accessibility. Candidates must be dedicated to purposefully promoting and encouraging personal and professional growth, respect, self-reflection, curiosity, and continuous learning. Essential Functions Design, implement, and evaluate in-person and virtual programs, learning communities, and/or resources for faculty development in professional areas outside of teaching.
Ensure signature programs in the Associate Director portfolio are effectively delivered. The initial portfolio will consist of 2-4 signature programming areas, depending on the size of the programs and their associated workload. Portfolio areas may change over time based on Office needs, workload, and Associate Director interest and expertise.
Contribute to office initiatives, including but not limited to faculty satisfaction research and programming retreats.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with offices and colleges across the campus to deliver faculty programming. Collaborate effectively within the Provost's Office (Faculty Diversity, Center for Teaching & Learning, IDEAS, Academic HR) and with relevant offices, such as the Office of Research and Engagement, the Office of Equity and Inclusion, and with Deans and Associate Deans across the colleges. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent terminal degree is required for this non-tenure-track academic faculty position.
Ability to develop, execute and evaluate evidence-based and impactful programmatic initiatives that respond to demonstrated needs.
Demonstrated ability in building collaborative relationships across diverse and multi-disciplinary departments and colleges; ability to interact effectively and diplomatically with all stakeholders.
Outstanding organization and communication skills and ability to effectively manage multiple demands simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to motivate and lead a team of collaborators. Exceptional ability to facilitate collaborative projects, and to work cooperatively with staff, faculty, department chairs/heads, and administrators.
Experience or familiarity with faculty development and/or organizational development in a higher education environment. Additional Details Organizational Values:

Salary Information The hiring range for this position is $75,500 - $78,000 annually.
