The Position

2026 Summer Intern - Product Development Data Sciences

Department Summary

Product Development Data Sciences is a group of more than 1,000 data scientists across 5 global sites. We deliver data and insights about our medicine with excellence and passion. Our mission is to unlock the full potential of data, to accelerate innovative healthcare solutions for patients and society.

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.

The Opportunity

  • Innovative study design: develop novel methods and tools for clinical drug development with potential applications in diverse therapeutic areas such as immunology, ophthalmology, neuroscience, and CVRM.

  • Developing software tools/packages: Developing code for novel methods and run simulations.

Program Highlights

  • 6 months paid internship, first 12 weeks must be full time (40 hours/week) on-site, while the rest will be part time, and can be remote or on-site, with the opportunity to extend to up to 12 months.

  • Program start dates are in May/June 2026.

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are (Required)

Required Education

You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must have attained a Master's Degree (no more than a year ago).

  • Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).

Required Majors: Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Biotechnology, or related fields.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.

  • Passion for learning and curious about drug development in the biotech industry.

  • Solid training in statistics, machine learning, and/or data science.

  • Strong programming ability in R/Python.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Familiarity with longitudinal data is a plus.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $50.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
