Assistant Academic Director

CTD Academic Summer Camp at Northwestern University

The Assistant Academic Director (AAD) provides key academic and logistical support for the Academic Directors (ADs) and Program Coordinators (PCs) at Center for Talent Development's (CTD) Academic Summer Camp for students in grades 6-12. The AAD supports communication between CTD's Academic Office and other stakeholders, such as instructional staff, students, and caregivers. The AAD collaborates with the ADs to support instructional staff observations and feedback, and course development within CTD's learning management system.

Employment Dates and Compensation

  • Full-time, on-campus work Friday, June 12 - Friday, August 7, 2026; Sunday, June 28 and Sunday, July 19 required
  • Salary: $25.00 per hour; 37.5 hours maximum
  • Hours: 7:30am to 4pm, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour unpaid break

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field and a minimum of 2 to 3 years teaching experience required.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills, and experience problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Curriculum development, staff support, customer service, staff evaluation, and experience with web-based learning management systems highly desired.
  • Ability to lift and/or maneuver up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to traverse distances of at least one mile with or without accommodation.

General Responsibilities

  • Learn, uphold, and implement CTD policies and procedures, including the CTD Honor Code.
  • Respond to staff and caregiver concerns in a timely manner.
  • Support the ADs in encouraging collaboration with the Instructors and Teaching Assistants.
  • Gather information through classroom observations. Provide timely, meaningful, and constructive feedback to academic staff regarding documentation of student learning and other instructional activities.
  • Review CTD's LMS Course Offerings for required instructional content. Appropriately address and document staff and student conduct issues.
  • Inform the ADs of student or staff concerns as appropriate.
  • Respond to student concerns and needs in a calm, positive, and supportive manner.
  • Provide training to the instructional staff in collaboration with the ADs.
  • Work with the ADs to create, organize, and distribute instructional support and training documents.
  • Track confidential student health information and communicate with ADs, Learning and Behavior Support Specialist (LBSS), and instructional staff as appropriate.
  • Assume program-related responsibilities as reasonably requested by CTD ADs and administrators.
