Job Summary
The Operations Data Analyst drives data-informed decision-making across Operations by transforming complex manufacturing and operational data into actionable insights. This role leads advanced analytics projects, develops scalable dashboards and data models, enhances data integrity and governance practices, and contributes to the digital transformation and smart manufacturing strategy. The Operations Data Analyst works cross-functionally to optimize data architecture, improve process efficiency, and identify predictive and prescriptive opportunities using advanced analytical methods.
Essential Functions
- Develop and maintain advanced dashboards, reports, and data pipelines using SQL, Power BI, Grafana, Python, and other business intelligence and data analytics tools.
- Design and execute diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to identify performance drivers and support operational decision-making.
- Build predictive models using statistical and machine learning techniques to forecast operational outcomes, identify trends, and support proactive decision-making.
- Conduct extensive statistical analysis, including hypothesis testing, regression modeling, time series analysis, and multivariate techniques to uncover insights and validate assumptions.
- Support data integration efforts that connect MES, ERP, SCADA, IoT, and other manufacturing systems to ensure a unified and contextualized data environment.
- Build and optimize data models to support analytics, reporting, and digital manufacturing use cases.
- Serve as a data subject matter expert for cross-functional projects, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and alignment with business goals.
- Apply automation and scripting to streamline repetitive data workflows, improve data quality checks, and enhance reporting efficiency.
- Partner with IT and Engineering to enhance the advanced manufacturing platform, enabling broader visibility into production and process metrics.
- Identify and resolve data integrity and governance issues, including ownership, validation, and metadata management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing process data and identifying opportunities for waste reduction, yield improvement, and performance optimization.
- Document data logic, source relationships, and analytical methodologies to maintain transparency and reproducibility.
- Ensure compliance with QA/RA and regulatory requirements, maintaining proper documentation and validation standards in all analytics solutions.
- Contribute to the advancement of smart manufacturing initiatives through applied data science and digital technologies.
Required/Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; Master's degree preferred, or a compelling combination of education, certifications, and experience typically 5 plus years.
- 2 - 4 years of relevant experience in data analytics, manufacturing systems, or industrial data environments required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in SQL and a scripting language (e.g., Python, R, DAX, M, etc.) required.
- Strong experience developing dashboards using tools like Power BI, Grafana, etc. required.
- Understanding the basics of statistical analysis, machine learning concepts, or predictive modeling methods required.
- Demonstrated experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and integration of manufacturing systems (MES, ERP, SCADA, IoT) preferred.
- Proven ability to deliver multiple projects and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into clear business recommendations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with commitment to documentation and data governance best practices.
- Experience in FDA-regulated or medical device manufacturing environment preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile/Scrum methodologies preferred.
- Project management experience and demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional data initiatives preferred.
