About The Position

The Safety Supervisor monitors, coaches and advises company personnel regarding company safety policies, procedures, and safety management systems to ensure a safe work environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide effective leadership and drive personal accountability to improve safety performance across business segments.
  • Review federal and state safety regulations and recommend appropriate methods of compliance for the company.
  • Conduct field safety observations aimed at identifying risks with follow-up communications to the business segments.
  • Provide effective positive and constructive coaching co-workers across all business segments.
  • Develop and administer injury and illness prevention, hazard recognition and safety recognition programs.
  • Provide services to business segments including safety presentations, training, jobsite inspections/audits, human performance tools, incident investigations/analysis and safety committee support.
  • Lead safety projects and initiatives designed to address areas of high risk or injury.
  • Collaborate with other safety personnel to support products provided to business segments.
  • Conduct Industrial Hygiene sampling related to lead-based paint, asbestos and noise under the direction of an Industrial Hygienist.
  • Provide safety support for Energy Centers, Combustion Turbine Generators, Renewables, and Capital Projects
  • Provide Energy Center outage support including night shift coverage is required
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. Preferably in Safety or related field. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation is preferred, but not required. Three years of safety-related experience required. Basic field experience in industrial hygiene including areas such as noise exposure, asbestos and/or lead abatement field experience preferred. Knowledge of utility operations and construction preferred.

The Safety Supervisor works a standard work week in an office and field environment. This position requires occasional overtime (evenings) that may involve overnight travel. May also be expected to provide support during outages, storms, or other emergencies as required which may require working extended hours, weekends and holidays.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Ability to prioritize and self-direct work activities with little direct supervision and participate in a geographically dispersed team environment. Proficiency with MS Office required. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and projects to successful completion. Strong analytical, communication, leadership and interpersonal skills also required.

Additional Information

Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$84,400.00 - $130,800.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
