What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to patients, visitors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical facility disturbances, disorderly persons, and unauthorized access concerns.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the facility, including lobbies, corridors, parking areas, and the exterior perimeter. Working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Monitor access points, help to control entry into restricted areas, and verify credentials for staff, vendors, and contractors in accordance with site policies.
  • Manage visitor check-in processes, issue visitor credentials, provide directions, and assist with wayfinding while maintaining awareness of unusual activity.
  • Operate and monitor security-related systems such as CCTV, access control, intercoms, and alarm panels; report malfunctions and request service as needed.
  • Assist clinical and administrative staff with de-escalation and support during behavioral incidents, following established procedures and post orders.
  • Support patient transport and staff escorts upon request, including escorts to vehicles and to/from parking areas when staffing and conditions allow.
  • Help to protect patient privacy by controlling access to treatment areas and limiting unauthorized photography and/or recording per policy.
  • Document incidents, patrol activities, and noteworthy observations in written reports and/or electronic systems; maintain accurate logs and shift handoffs.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire personnel, and/or emergency management during incidents, and assist with directing responders to the correct location.
  • Perform access control and traffic flow support for emergency department arrivals, ambulance bays, and/or loading areas as assigned by site procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • CPR certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • CPR and/or First Aid is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
