FLIGHT TEST ENGINEER LOCATION: Nellis AFB, NM JOB STATUS: Full-time CLEARANCE: Secret CERTIFICATION: FAA Class III Medical Certificate TRAVEL: 15% Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Flight Test Engineer for the TMAS2-96TW Contract, supporting the Air Force Division, at Nellis AFB, NM. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- *U.S. Citizenship is required and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. *
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or other technical field and 3-10 years of related experience.
- This skill level typically performs all functional duties independently.
- Must be a self-motivated expert able to take responsibility for identifying, organizing, coordinating, executing necessary tasks leading to the successful accomplishment of assigned duties.
- Must be proficient in Air Force test and evaluation methods for test planning, test execution, data analysis, and final report preparation
- Must be familiar with acquisitions and test management procedures including coordinating and interfacing with
- Must have a demonstrated ability to work as part of an integrated team
- HPO/SPOs.
- Must have strong communication skills and possess technical writing skills.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications is required.
- Must be able to obtain an FAA Class III Medical Certificate.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Flight test experience with military aircraft is highly desired.
- Test Conductor experience with military systems is highly desired.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools, such as MATLAB, is highly desired.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluating technical specifications and system design documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Preparing methods of test and technical reports for developmental tests of new and modified aircraft systems.
- Providing technical assistance to military test directors.
- Participating in test planning meetings, technical interchange meetings, and design reviews with Helicopter
- Program Office (HPO), Systems Program Office (SPO), and system developers.
- Presenting test strategy, objectives, and procedures to senior leaders at Safety Review Boards and Test Approval Boards.
- Coordinating with instrumentation and analysis personnel to define data collection and analysis requirements for test missions.
- Directing test missions from range control facilities and while airborne.
- Perform flight test engineer and test director duties onboard a variety of aircraft including Air Force HH-60 helicopters.
- Advising the customer on flight test issues and results.
- Incorporating scientific and technical principles in test planning, execution, analysis, and reporting.
- Travel to offsite locations, as required.
