The Printing Technical Advisor oversees the organization's flexographic training and preventative maintenance programs to enhance employee skills, performance, productivity, and quality of work. Leads the building and development of high-performing teams to support the short and long-term growth of the plant. Accountable for meeting the on-going Preventative Maintenance Program objectives. Uses best practices and continuous improvement methodology while acting as a resource for colleagues in Product Leadership, Quality, and Production. Leads continuous improvement projects aimed at improving EBITDA. Participates in continuous improvement/Kaizen teams. Creates a culture that fosters a safe, injury-free, people-centric, data-driven, and continuous improvement workplace.

Responsibilities:



  • Uses a standardized and repeatable onboarding program for new production employees through the production supervisors and production team leads. Teaches and directs team leads and/or supervisors to identify critical skills, knowledge, and training requirements that employees need to perform their jobs successfully. Develops learning solutions to address identified skill gaps and to create succession plans.
  • Uses technical knowledge, skills, and expertise to develop, deploy, and update appropriate technical operations training for all production positions, with additional training that specifically focuses on the printing press operator and assistant roles.
  • Ensures completion and compliance for all training while continuously assessing the outcomes of the flexographic training program to identify necessary adjustments that will continue to drive the ever evolving training and developmental needs of the organization. Engages in the flexographic performance goals to ensure that the training program is effective to meet business needs, improves results in key focus areas, and promotes operational efficiencies. Provides regular feedback to Human Resources and Management on trainees' development each week.
  • Participates in product trials, snap meetings, Customer Service meetings, and customer complaint response (root cause analysis). Provides timelines for customer launches and intervenes as needed to avoid delays in key milestones. Participates in customer feedback meetings, conducts weekly update meetings, and provides monthly summaries.
  • Manages the Total Productive Maintenance Program and leads continuous improvement teams to reduce downtime and/or scrap. Leads the teams to audit tasks to sustain improvements.
  • Actively participates in all required safety training and conducts a Safety Audit once per month.
  • Completes work within organizational protocols and expectations, utilizing standard operating procedures. Develops systematic ways to complete work, including dealing with future contingencies and organizing for the future.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Leadership, or Learning is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of printing experience, including the operation of printing presses, is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leading operations in some capacity in a printing operation that includes the development of printing press operators and team leads.
  • Must have experience with developing content and delivering training in a manufacturing setting.
  • Previous experience with leading teams through Lean/Continuous Improvement methods.

  • Work is generally performed in an office and/or manufacturing facility. While on the manufacturing floor, an incumbent may be exposed to excessive/continuous noise, working around machinery with moving parts, working around moving objects or vehicles, working around moving machinery, and/or heavy equipment. Incumbent is required to wear protective eyewear, hearing protection, and safety shoes when on the manufacturing floor.
  • Position requires the ability to keyboard/type, remain stationary for long periods of time (sitting or standing), moving about to accomplish tasks for moving from one worksite/station to another, work in close proximity to others, frequently lifts up to 10 lbs., occasionally lifts up to 25 lbs., and may be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
