Lead Machinist

Location: Youngsville, LA

Pay: $22 - $26 per hour (depending on experience)

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 5 AM - 5 PM (40 plus hours | Must be flexible as some weekends are required)

Key Duties:

• Set up and operate a variety of CNC machines such as lathes, VTL, and mills.
• Provide production machinists with tooling and material.
• Remain in constant contact with all machinists in production to ensure efficient and timely run times on all jobs.
• Create and adjust programs to optimize run times on all jobs.
• Provide training and/or guidance to Machinist(s) in the absence of a supervisor or upon request.
• Responsible for machining parts within the specified tolerances and finishes as needed.
• Responsible for maintaining machines and tools, including safety and visual inspections.
• Perform preventative maintenance on facility machinery.
• Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished component, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on the material or component as guides for subsequent machining.
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
• Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle.
• Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
• Verify conformance of finished component to drawings and specifications.
• Determine and prepare any jigs or special attachments needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints or drawings necessary to complete assignments.
• Prepare your own layouts.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience.
• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Able to read measuring tools such as calipers and OD micrometers.
• Must be able to read blueprints and drawings.
• Basic math skills.
• Attention to detail.
