What to Expect
The EHS Technician will assist in conducting the site-specific safety orientation to set the standard of safety for the project. This individual will support daily activities including field oversite, EHS audits and Pre-Task Plan reviews. He or She will be vital to setting Tesla's safety expectations to contractors and promoting a robust safety culture with our contractors.

What You'll Do
  • Provide field safety oversight of construction work activities for major infrastructure projects. Conduct project walks focused on safe work practices and conduct coaching conversations with workers when corrections are required
  • Participate in reviews for high hazard work prior to execution to include critical lifts, confined space entries, high voltage work, pressure testing, fall protection plans, etc. Review Pre-Task Plans to ensure tasks, hazards and mitigations are in alignment with the work being performed in the field
  • Participate in project kick off meetings and describe EHS site specific expectations. Participate in and contribute to project planning to address hazards from multiple work crews in one area and impacting/protection production workers
  • Present material and information to the Tesla facilities and commissioning management team and contractors during safety meetings. Be a resource to the Facilities and Commissioning project management team and provide guidance, assistance and direction regarding EHS requirements
  • Ensure compliance with Local, State and Federal health and safety regulations
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EH&S policies, plans, and procedures
  • Lead and document accident/incident investigations to determine root cause, prevention and corrective measures

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of hands-on experience building high-tech infrastructure and operational facilities (Automotive, tool/equipment installation, semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.)
  • CSP or CHST preferred
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced and changing environment
  • Background in electrical, mechanical and process plumbing systems, and heavy civil
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, UBC, ISO, ANSI, RIA, NFPA, GB, codes
  • Ability to communicate clearly and interface with team members in multiple departments
