SEMCO - Laborer

Position Summary:
Under general supervision, works with and performs the same work as that of the "C" classification. May perform other similar and related work within their classification.

What You'll Do:
* Drive a Company vehicle and is responsible for inventory, maintenance and safe operation.
* Get and maintain a commercial driver's license as determined by company.
* Complies with standard safety precautions necessary to ensure safety of others and prevent lost-time accidents.
* On occasion may be required to work in another department as needed.
* Perform minor painting, cleaning of vehicles, and janitorial duties.
* Operation and minor maintenance of power equipment for lawn care and snow removal.

* Ability to progress into a "C" classification Gas Distribution Mechanic within a minimum of 6 months and eventually progress to an "A" classification Gas Distribution Mechanic.

What You Bring:
* Possession of a high school diploma or successful completion of a General Education Development Certificate.
* Good analytical and organizational skills.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Good customer service orientation.
* Possess valid driver's license as determined by the company.
* Ability to write legibly; operate a personal computer satisfactorily.
* Ability to work without direct supervision.
* Possess the necessary physical abilities to perform the various job duties. Must be able to walk up to 5-10 miles per day in all types of weather conditions. Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend, crawl, kneel, walk, climb, push, pull, lift and carry 20-50 lbs., twist, reach above and below shoulder levels, fine finger movements. Must be able to work in climates of extreme cold / extreme heat. Potential exposure to stinging insects / insecticides and possible requirement to be in Respirator Program.

* Self-starter and show ownership for the success of the Semco team.

* Assist co-workers as needed with work on meters, heaters, electronics, miss-digs, and other associated Class A Distribution Mechanic work.
