Job Overview:

The Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Manager will deliver comprehensive nutrition services at the HARVEST Food Hub, RWJBarnabas Health's groundbreaking farm to community center that integrates healthcare, nutrition education, and food access.

This position takes a leadership role in spearheading Food as Medicine programming, supporting patients referred through RWJBarnabas Health's clinical programs, and empowering community members to improve health outcomes through nutrition.

The RDN will drive the strategic development and management of several programs that support the prevention and management of chronic disease utilizing facility's demonstration kitchen and consultation offices.

This unique position bridges clinical healthcare and community wellness, requiring expertise in medical nutrition therapy, culinary education, and culturally responsive programming.

The role involves flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, to maximize community accessibility and impact.

Essential Job Functions

  • Program architect for evidenced based food as medicine programming addressing chronic disease management including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and diet related conditions
  • Coordinate with clinical teams across RWJBarnabas Health facilities to ensure continuity of care for referred patients
  • Partner with Community Health Workers to provide comprehensive wraparound services addressing social determinants of health
  • Manage and lead innovative nutrition education and culinary workshops in the center s teaching kitchen, engaging adults, children, families, college students, and seniors
  • Develop evidence-based educational materials and resources in multiple languages reflecting Newark's population
  • Cross functional collaborator with Culinary Director to develop medically tailored recipes and meal plans using locally sourced ingredients from Urban Agriculture Cooperative's 30 plus partner farms
  • Guide groups and individuals to making positive behavior changes addressing health conditions and personal goals
  • Participate in community events, partnership activities for health promotion and marketing,
  • Maintain and foster new relationships with community partner organizations and key stakeholders,
  • Collect and analyze program data including health outcomes, participant satisfaction, and behavior change metrics for reporting and program evaluation

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics required
  • Advanced proficiency in culinary skills, clinical dietetics, group nutrition education, and public health nutrition
  • Strong knowledge of social determinants of health and public health issues
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a networked, community driven environment

Preferred:

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Bilingual proficiency Spanish and English strongly preferred; additional languages valuable

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist RDN credential required through CDR
