Systems Software Developer

IDEXX is seeking a Systems Software Developer within our Instrument Software Research and Development group to create embedded solutions to control the operation of electro-mechanical subsystems. We operate in a complex, innovative, and exciting culture, utilizing an Agile framework. Our small autonomous teams routinely inspect and adapt to accelerate our ability to deliver high-quality solutions to our customers.

Whatyou can expect in this role:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Systems Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain mission critical software that powers our organization. This pivotal role involves leading technical initiatives, architecting scalable solutions, developing at speed, and providing expert guidance to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of all department software and associated operating systems. The ideal candidate will be a technical leader with a strong problem-solving aptitude and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

This role will involve working with different languages, on Linux and Windows, and covering the entire stack from web development to backend to embedded systems. You will be working on a team that prioritizes business value above all else by delivering on mission critical, just-in-time projects that enable our partners to succeed. This role is perfect for those who thrive on high-pressure, high-visibility, cannot-fail teams.

In this role you will:

* Be a senior member of a highly effective team focused on meeting business needs.

* Design, build, test, deploy and iterate on mission critical software.

* Participate in strategic business and technical planning to bring innovations and ideas to life.

What do you need to succeed?:

* Seasoned experience working through technical challenges and solving complex issues.

* Support continuous improvements to development practices and challenge the status quo.

* Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

* 10 years of development experience creating, and maintaining, new and legacy solutions.

* Minimal years in an academic setting.

* Self-directed and highly motivated - able to deliver without the guard rails of scrum.

* Experience designing, building, and maintaining web APIs.

* Experience with document databases such as MongoDB.

* Experience working with modern technologies and cloud platforms - especially AWS.

* Experience with C/C++, Go, JavaScript (No build), HTML, CSS, and Python.
