Summary Job Description: Job Title: Specialty Pharmacist I Job Description: The Specialty Pharmacist acts as an extension of ambulatory clinic teams to support patient access to high touch, complex medication therapies. This position is based in a specialty medical clinic setting. The Specialty Pharmacist functions in a multi-skilled environment, which requires the application of teamwork, leadership, and flexibility. - Enrolls specialty pharmacy patients into medication management programs by assisting with recruiting patients in clinic.
- Provides initial clinical medication counseling and regular patient reassessments via in person, telephonic, or video encounters to ensure appropriateness of specialty therapy and ongoing therapy management.
- Refers appropriate patients to financial counseling for copay assistance through manufacturers or charity programs.
- Communicates with patients and families about the benefits of filling their prescriptions with Baptist Health.
- Communicates with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate exemplary service for new and existing Baptist Health specialty pharmacy patients.
- Provides limited/indirect supervision for Specialty Pharmacy Care Coordinators and timely response to clinical escalations.
- Upholds standards of pharmacy services with the overall vision for the organization.
- Participate in ongoing training related to role, including but not limited to disease state overviews, clinical guidelines, pharmacology, REMS programs, etc.
- Engages in personal professional development to stay updated with pharmacy trends related to role and practice setting.
- Communicates and represents pharmacy effectively throughout all levels of the organization internally and to all external partners
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited college or university with Pharmacy degree.
- Licensed Pharmacist with the Kentucky State Board of Pharmacy in good standing.
- 1-3 years related work experience or completion of ASHP accredited pharmacy residency program preferred.
- Must provide documentation of state licensure and CE as required by the state of KY.
- Maintain BLS & ACLS certifications
