Provides accurate and timely senior level support for operational, technical, and consultative accounting functions. Responsible for complex cost accounting functions such as preparing financial and variance reports, evaluating variances, conducting production related research, providing cost reporting information necessary to reconcile variances, and serving as a backup for Accounting management at all facilities. Creates new and maintains current bill of materials (BOM) in relevant system(s). Collaborates with Industrial Engineering (IE) to create and maintain Master Recipes in all relevant systems (i.e., S4/Hana).

Key Responsibilities



  • Monitors, evaluates, and reports on actual vs. standard (STD) cost variances, investigating causes and recommending corrective action.
  • Prepares and deliver timely and accurate reports on financial results on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and general ledger reporting of labor, yields, and variances.
  • Conducts inventory reconciliations to ensure all inventory is used and consumed in a timely manner. Recommends actions to address needed inventory adjustments.
  • Trains on and maintains subject matter expertise in production accounting operations for multiple locations, including: internal department variance reporting,
  • general ledger journal entries and reconciliation and analysis of accounts.
  • Creates, maintains, tracks, and/or reviews Bill of Materials (BOM), Master Recipes, and labor files and rates. Audits files for accuracy and corrects as needed.
  • Develops and analyzes cost reports and performance metrics, including zero-based budgeting (ZBB) trends, KPI reporting, and ad hoc reporting. Contributes to the development and implementation of cost control initiatives.
  • Assists in budgeting and forecasting processes to help develop the annual operating budget plan (AOP). Pushes plan into STD costing.
  • Supports internal and external audits by providing required documentation and reporting.
  • Guides and supports department-wide projects. Ensures compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, regulations, and contractual obligations.
  • Provides guidance, support, and subject matter expertise to plan production accounting teams.


Minimum Qualifications (Educations & Experience)



  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (i.e., Accounting, Finance) or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and best practices, including exposure to product costing
  • Highly skilled at variance reporting, zero based budgeting, general ledger entries, and financial reconciliations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office package and relevant enterprise resource planning systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively interact at all levels
  • Proven ability to identify and solve problems through critical and creative thinking
  • Skilled at training, coaching, and supporting junior team members
  • Excellent attention to detail with the proven ability to effectively prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements
  • Highly skilled at reviewing data, interpreting results, identifying trends, and providing data-informed recommendations


Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Experience in SAP
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
