The Corporate Information Services Department is seeking a dynamic and talented System Engineer II. The System Engineer II supports and maintains primary infrastructure and system administration of the Windows based servers hosting the Client Management application. Performs activities related to senior system administration. Provides technical and engineering expertise in the areas of systems-related project planning, design, and engineering of client management, including system performance management, and security audit and remediation. Possesses in-depth knowledge of client management hardware, client management software and operating systems software. Researches, reviews and recommends hardware and software improvements. Trains lower-level systems engineers. Designs secure systems and networks. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of operating systems internals and network communications. Ensures long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization. Maintains responsibility for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of computer software. Implements operation system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system. Drafts system policies and standards to achieve company goals. Possesses expert trouble shooting skills and in-depth knowledge of operating systems internals.

Key Responsibilities include:

System Implementation

Activities:

  • Implements server and hardware configurations, hardware moves and migrations. Regularly meets with users, vendors, and IS staff to develop/modify system specifications.
  • Participates in the review and approval of design solutions for technology and prepares the appropriate documentation
  • Approves developed testing Methodologies.
  • Ensures adherence to appropriate UHS Project Management standards.
  • Ensures strict adherence to work plans, reporting all serious deviations to management.
  • Recommends Change Management Policies and monitors that strict adherence is followed by all team members.
  • Assists with Domain strategy.
  • Performs a significant role in technical design sessions
System Maintenance/Support

Activities:

  • Monitors the resolution of maintenance-related Customer Support Center Tickets.
  • Ensures adherence to UHS Service Level and Change Management Policies.
  • Provides continued back-up to on-call support.
  • Establishes and maintains regular communications with user community.
  • Manages various Windows operating systems, HP, Dell, and IBM hardware
  • Maintains server and hardware configuration, as well as hardware moves and migrations.
  • Assists with Operating System installations including patches and upgrades
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage Multi-Facility Hardware structure
  • Monitors Change Control process and verifies testing is complete
  • Assesses system requirements and identifies potential problem areas while recommending practical solutions
  • Uses problem-solving and analytical skills to implement, update and support complex Systems Management application.

Administrative Duties

Activities:

  • Ensures that administrators are properly trained in performance of their duties as required.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to other team members as required.
  • Assists with the development and submission of capital and operation budget for assigned sub-Departments.
  • Maintains relationships with key IS vendors and consulting firms.
  • Updates project status for publication on a regular basis.
  • Interacts with consultants and third parties as needed.
  • Maintains Service Excellence principles.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required by senior management.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

Knowledge: Bachelor's Degree required with three or more years of progressive responsibilities of Information Systems management experience preferably with VMware and Server Operating Systems. Citrix, Active Directory Privilege Management, PowerShell Scripting, Project Management, Documentation and/or Linux knowledge preferred. Advanced Operating System installations and configuration including patching. VMware technologies, including vSphere and vCenter. Experience working with complex Multi-facility solutions and architecture. Ability to work nights, days, weekends, holidays, and on-call when required. Self-motivated and able to interact with all levels within the organization. Critical thinking and initiative to resolve issues proactively

Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of system management, application implementation, enhancement, support methods, and change control processes. Working knowledge of server system analysis, troubleshooting techniques and standard procedures, including: consulting with users to determine Virtual, physical, software or system functional specifications; design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing, configuration, or management of computer systems. Knowledge of IS standards and quality methods and metrics. Initiates performance monitoring and tuning, engages third party suppliers to resolve outstanding issues. Knowledge of project management methods. Working Knowledge of user business practices, concepts and terminology to support the applications. Strong time management and organization skills and is able to manage multiple projects at once. Language proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal fluency. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Experience: Previous experience with Client/Systems Management software, Virtualization, Windows Servers are required. Experience with Active Directory and Privilege Management is preferred.

License or Registration Requirements:

Training: Related infrastructure, Systems/Client Management, Active Directory, Virtualization

Travel Requirements: 5 - 25% domestic US travel (depending on projects).
