Henderson Engineers is seeking a Corporate Application's Director to join their team in Kansas City. The Corporate Applications Director leads the development, integration, and support of Henderson's enterprise software ecosystem, including ERP, HRIS, CRM, financial, and internally developed Intranet solutions. This role is responsible for managing a cross-functional team, providing both personnel and project leadership while contributing hands-on development support when needed. The Director collaborates closely with stakeholders to define scope, prioritize work within sprints, and deliver solutions that are business-aligned, cost-effective, and on schedule. They also provide architectural and technical direction to ensure consistency, reliability, and adherence to industry best practices across all corporate applications and custom development related to these systems.



Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.

    • Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.


  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise applications, including ERP, Finance, and HR systems and/or custom application development.
  • 7+ years in a technical leadership or management role, overseeing software development or corporate systems teams.
  • Proven ability to manage application portfolios that include ERP, HR, Finance, and Operations workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with full SDLC in Agile environments, including planning, backlog grooming, and sprint execution.
  • Experience coordinating third-party vendors and software providers.
  • Strong understanding of ERP, Financial, and HR platforms (e.g., Deltek, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, Dayforce).
  • Familiarity with API development, integration tools, and ETL pipelines.
  • Ability to evaluate and contribute to technical architecture and system design decisions.
  • Experience overseeing or participating in custom application development (e.g., internal web-based tools).
  • Proficiency with tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or other Agile project tracking systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL preferred.
  • Awareness of data privacy, security standards, and enterprise compliance considerations.
  • Proven ability to build, mentor, and retain high-performing, cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Skilled in strategic planning, resource management, and project execution.
  • Ability to facilitate prioritization, roadmap development, and continuous delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting.



Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:



  • Define and continuously refine the strategic roadmap for Corporate Applications (including off-the-shelf, SaaS, and custom applications) through active collaboration with HR, Finance, and Operations.
  • Align technology initiatives with business priorities by translating evolving needs into a prioritized product backlog.
  • Directly manage a team of backend developers and Business Systems Analysts, ensuring they are equipped to deliver value in an Agile environment.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, psychological safety, and continuous improvement through servant leadership and team coaching.
  • Ensure effective work intake, sprint prioritization, and velocity tracking to deliver functional value in incremental releases.
  • Provide architectural guidance and enforce standards for ERP integrations, APIs, and internal platforms to ensure consistency, security, and performance.
  • Ensure enterprise architecture standards and Agile delivery practices are consistently applied across all development work, providing leadership and oversight.
  • Work with third party vendors to understand platform capabilities, prioritizing out-of-box capabilities over customized solutions where possible.
  • Lead sprint planning, review, and retrospective ceremonies to promote transparency, iterative delivery, and measurable business value.
  • Ensure that sprint goals are clearly defined, prioritized based on ROI and strategic importance, and effectively communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Champion Agile principles across non-technical departments by coaching stakeholders on value-based prioritization, early feedback loops, and shared ownership of deliverables.
