About the role

The network engineer is responsible for the system's overall infrastructure, including engineering, implementation and integration, and technical services and support. This role will design, implement/install, maintain and administer infrastructure systems, including hardware and various network configurations. The technology engineer mentors and coaches' others to establish and improve processes and procedures. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

As an Associate Engineer you will:

  • Assist network project management team with any network project work as well as any technical or logistical requirements as deemed necessary.
  • Identification and resolution of network problems associated with network hardware refresh including switching, spanning tree, wireless connectivity, and application performance issues.
  • Collaborate with team members to generate documentation for project overviews, process and validation.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times adhering to the IS Departments policies and procedures. Follow Medline's Code of Ethics and other corporate policies.

What we're looking for

  • 2+ years of experience with Layer 2 Switching protocols
  • 1 to 2 years' experience with network engineering, basic understanding of networking fundamentals, and know the differences among the link, network, transport, and application layers.
  • Understanding of VLANs, NAT devices, DHCP servers, the OSI model and TCP/IP model
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot routing/switching technologies including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, HSRP, VRRP in an enterprise class environment
  • Some experience with Linux OS/Networking
  • Experience with multiple networking vendors including Cisco, HP, Aruba, Extreme, and Avalan.
