Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports engineering and production teams by assisting with the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing processes and systems in a heavy manufacturing environment. This role is vital to improving efficiency, quality, and safety on the production floor and ensuring that equipment and tooling are functioning at optimal levels.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist engineers in designing, developing, and implementing manufacturing processes, procedures, and tooling for new and existing products.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production processes, equipment, and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements in workflow, layout, or tooling.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for quality or process issues.
  • Draft and/or update standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Assist in process capability studies, time studies, and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Provide technical support during installation, maintenance, or upgrades of production equipment.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational requirements.
  • Support manufacturing engineers in capital equipment procurement and commissioning projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of tests, calibrations, and inspections.
Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production support role, preferably in heavy industry (e.g., metal fabrication, forging, machining, casting).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with industrial equipment and manufacturing methods.
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers) and data acquisition tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing software systems (e.g., ERP, CAD, CAM) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Information

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Standing or sitting at a desk for long periods of time, walking throughout the facility, and the ability to handle up to 50lbs as required.
  • Exposed to elements, such as cold, heat, noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc.
  • Work time is spent primarily inside the main entrance building, with rounding on the manufacturing floor and KV grounds; occasional tasks and interactions outdoors.
