The Airframe Structures Intern, with supervision, assists in performing basic sheet metal and composite repairs, fabrication, and installation tasks on a variety of aircraft in a safe and clean work environment according to manufacturer's specifications, Duncan Aviation approved procedures, and customer specifications. This position also assists with documentation of work performed in a timely and accurate manner while gaining exposure to aircraft structures maintenance practices and industry standards.



Essential Job Functions



  1. With supervision, assists in performing minor sheet metal and composite repairs and standard fabrication practices on aircraft structures in accordance with manufacturer's specifications, Duncan Aviation approved procedures, and customer specifications in a clean, safe, and professional manner with minimal rework.

  2. With supervision, assists with the fitting, drilling, and installation of fabricated or manufactured structural components on aircraft.

  3. With supervision, assists in preparing required documentation for record-keeping purposes as outlined by company policy and FAA regulations (e.g., turnovers, removal sheets, work order sheets, personal training logs, etc.).

  4. With assistance, locates and uses appropriate technical data, drawings, and service manuals and follows verbal instructions when accomplishing assigned tasks.

  5. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.



Job Specific Requirements



  • Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; Man Lift qualified; tool inventory per department tool list required
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance is required
  • Physical: Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.; reads small print; hears sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; tolerates products, materials, and fumes associated with component maintenance; tolerates working in confined spaces and at heights above four feet; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, and sitting
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments



Education and Experience



  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Currently enrolled in an airframe maintenance or related secondary education program
  • Previous sheet metal or structures-related coursework or hands-on training preferred
