Are you a mental health professional looking to make an impact in the workplace?

Bancroft is hiring a Workplace Mental Health Counselor (Contractor) to provide assessment, consultation, and critical incident response for employees. This role supports a culture of well-being through practical, short-term interventions and strategic collaboration with HR and leadership.

Responsibilities

This hybrid role-offering both on-site and virtual support-focuses on short-term, solution-oriented consultation and triage rather than ongoing therapy. In collaboration with Human Resources, the Crisis Response Team, and Clinical Professionals, the Counselor also offers emotional debriefing, and expert guidance following workplace incidents or events that may affect psychological safety and morale.

Provide confidential, short-term counseling or consultation sessions for employees seeking support for workplace-related or personal concerns.
  • Assess presenting issues and determine appropriate next steps, including referral to EAP, insurance-based therapy providers, or other community resources.
  • Support HR and organizational leadership in responding to workplace events that may impact staff well-being (e.g., critical incidents, deaths, or traumatic situations).
  • Facilitate debriefing or group support sessions following critical incidents, when requested.
  • Partner with Bancroft's Crisis Response Team where appropriate, to support workplace incidents and events
  • Serve as a trusted, neutral mental health resource within the organization, fostering psychological safety and resilience.
  • Document consultations and referrals in a manner consistent with privacy requirements and organizational practices.
  • Consult with HR regarding mental health trends or staff needs observed through aggregate, de-identified data (no individual-level disclosures).
  • Offer educational sessions and workshops focused on stress management, resilience, and mental health awareness.
  • Participate in periodic check-ins or meetings with HR leadership to evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities for enhancement.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related mental health field required.
  • Active licensures as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) strongly preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in counseling, crisis intervention, triage, or workplace wellness.
  • Experience with trauma-informed and employee assistance practices strongly preferred.

What Sets You Apart:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide brief, solution-focused interventions and appropriate referral coordination.
