ATCC, a leading nonprofit biological resources and standards organization, is seeking a Senior IP & License Enforcement Specialist to work a hybrid schedule in Manassas, VA. This role is responsible for conducting reviews of licensing files to ensure compliance with regulations and process. They conduct, document, and provide timely updates on complex enforcement investigations and license-related matters. They elevate high-level concerns to Senior Management which warrant additional consideration.

The Senior IP & License Enforcement Specialist supports the license enforcement process by reviewing agreements, ensuring enforcement, and investigating and facilitating the execution of Material Transfer Agreements (MTA). They generally handle problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. IP, patent, or licensing experience and background in life sciences required.

Responsibilities

    License Enforcement Oversight: Leads investigations into complex compliance issues, conducts internal audits, and ensures adherence to licensing and IP regulations. Tracks licensee obligations, enforces MTAs, and escalates critical matters to leadership.

  • Customer & Agreement Management: Responds to inquiries related to IP, licensing, and MTAs using databases and search tools. Drafts and negotiates licenses and other agreements, facilitates execution processes, and validates documentation for accuracy and completeness.

  • Licensing & Data Analysis: Initiates licensing negotiations, qualifies potential licensees, and ensures alignment with organizational strategy. Generates reports from multiple databases to support decision-making and monitors financial and reporting obligations tied to executed agreements.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years' experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in life sciences with a strong focus on licensing or intellectual property (IP) related practices.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of intellectual property law and various licensing frameworks essential for compliance and enforcement.
  • Skilled in drafting and negotiating license agreements.
  • Familiarity with MTAs and enforcement procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills for risk assessment and issue escalation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Experience collaborating with legal, finance, and licensing teams.
  • Ability to contribute to enforcement initiatives.


Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $95,000 to $105,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
