As the Supply Chain Manager of PPG Aerospace Manufacturing site located in Shelby, North Carolina, you will develop and enact strategies for the efficient manufacturing and on-time delivery of our products, that consistently meet or exceed PPG Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), customer requirements, while managing constraints such as working capital, material availability, and capacity. This will include ensuring timely and accurate response to customer's orders by providing the required information, schedules, materials, and tools to the manufacturing teams.

This role will also be responsible for the long-term and short-term planning and scheduling of raw materials, work orders, intermediates, and finished goods inventories to align with customer demand. This is a leadership position, reporting directly to the Plant Manager, that will drive improvement initiatives and requires a thorough knowledge of company operations, sales environment, inventory control and cost structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • As part of the site leadership team be actively engaged in Safety and Quality; lead by example and ensure operational discipline and compliance with both company and regulatory standards.
  • Create the policies, procedures, and systems required to meet the business objectives and to ensure continuous improvement and sustainment in all material management and supply chain areas including Shipping and Receiving.
  • Develop and lead a team of highly engaged supply chain professionals consisting of material planners, schedulers, analysts, logistic coordinators and physical inventory managers.
  • Manages and drives the local site Sales &Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.
  • Implement the strategies required to sustain optimized inventory levels that achieves the company's Days of Inventory on Hand (DOH) goals and supports a high customer service level.
  • Execute continuous improvement initiatives including Kaizen events to ensure effective and efficient supply chain processes.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Platform, Manufacturing and Quality Leadership to ensure operational excellence across all value streams.
  • Have expert understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) concepts and lean pull systems to optimize planning approaches for efficient manufacturing.
  • Produce an integrated master schedule for the site's products that reflects external and internal customer demand and priorities.
  • Oversee the management of raw material purchase orders to ensure material availability needed for all manufacturing requirements.
  • Oversee the management of on-site and off-site warehouse and logistics operations.
  • Identify current and potential inventory shortages and develop and implement appropriate recovery plans to minimize production disruptions.
  • Work with manufacturing management in the creation of short- and long- term capacity projections including equipment and resource requirements and identifying potential bottlenecks.
  • Maintain and monitor key performance indicators including on-time delivery, past due dollars, manufacturing trends, and inventory metrics.
  • Responsible for physical inventory management including, but not limited to, cycle counting, and overall inventory accuracy across raw materials, Work-in- Progress (WIP) and Finished Goods (FG) categories.
  • Maintain all key system planning parameters including lead times and safety stocks to ensure accurate MRP planning signals.
  • Interacts and influences both internal and external teams from the executive to the individual contributor, to establish and implement global material strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or Operations. APICS certification preferred but can be achieved during employment.
  • Proven experience within a plant/manufacturing supply chain function, with demonstrated success in driving improved performance.
  • Demonstrated understanding of sophisticated reporting tools, Excel, BI reports, and driving critical metrics.
  • 8 to 12 years of experience in a diverse manufacturing environment with 5 to 7 years as a Supply Chain Manager or related role.
  • Expert understanding of Sales & Operations Planning to balance supply and demand requirements.
  • Expert understanding of MRP systems, it's processes and planning parameters.
  • Experience with machine and resource capacity planning.
  • Ability to develop inventory management policies.
  • Strong communication skills

The salary range for this position is: $101,250 - $168,750 depending on experience.
