Responsibilities
Summary The Regional Director of Health Services is responsible for regional operational oversight and leadership of all medical units in the assigned region based on the organization's goals and objectives, and according to contractual obligations. This position is responsible for interpreting and implementing policies, program administration, field activities, audits, and resolving complex challenges of the Health Services Unit within the region. Regional Director of Health Services will provide direct supervision to the Regional Manager of Health Services. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- The Director, Regional Health Services determines program goals and objectives and develops short-range and long-range plans for achieving strategic direction consistent with the GEO Group's Strategic, Performance and Operating goals.
- Determines the types and levels of services to be provided and the standards by which delivery will be evaluated; directs the preparation of annual budgets, health care plans, and funding applications; monitors and evaluates delivery, performance, and expenditures.
- Evaluates health services systems workload and productivity based on Quality Assurance Matrix and Contract Compliance guidance.
- Consults and coordinates with federal and state health officials and representatives of local public and private health agencies in the enforcement of health laws and the development of programs to meet public health needs.
- Organizes, leads, and manages staff and response teams to prevent, minimize, and contain adverse health events and conditions resulting from staff shortage or other unpredictable factors.
- Collaborates in the development of evidence-based practices and programs that will enhance the overall operations of the Medical Unit.
- Fosters an organization-wide culture of continuous improvement and employee empowerment.
- Interviews, recommend hires, evaluates, and submits recommendations for staff evaluations, disciplinary actions, and corrective action plans.
- Supervises and assists Regional Health Services Managers with areas of concern in order to achieve the goals and contractual obligations of the Medical Units.
- Assists with orientation and tailoring site-specific training programs suitable to the health care program.
- Meets regularly and advises corporate, regional and facility leadership of critical health services issues, changes and needs with recommendations to ensure compliance and continuous improvement in health and safety issues for employees and detainees.
- Resolves issues within the region relating to service-wide policy interpretations and ensures consistent application of policies through effective programs.
- Develops and maintains effective communication with outside hospital contractors, consultants, and agency administrators to ensure a positive working relationship with them.
- Monitors and ensures strict compliance with accreditation standards such as OSHA, NCCHC, and ACA and any other applicable federal state, and municipal laws.
- Completes and submits narratives, summaries, and operational reports as required.
- Performs other services as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Public or Heath care Administration. Master's degree
- Seven (7) years of experience in correctional healthcare administration with supervisory experience in a correctional or detention facility.
- Demonstrated experience in managing a medical unit including the supervision of internal and external staff.
- Demonstrated experience in assessing the operations of health services using a variety of auditing
- Demonstrated experience in delivery and administration of health care services.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing short- and long-term goal and objectives.
- Demonstrated experience in developing or improving health service units.
- Must possess effective decision-making skills in the operation of health service programs.
- Frequent travel with overnight stays may be required. May be required to relocate temporarily to provide support or assist our facilities.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
