Overview:

Securian is looking to add an afternoon Security Officer to our team. The officer will be a key member of a team responsible for creating a safe and secure environment across a one million square foot corporate campus.The officer will rotate among foot patrol, staffing a security and reception desk, and operating a state-of-the-art security command center that features hundreds of security cameras, sophisticated access control, alarm, life safety systems and a computerized dispatch system.All Security Officers are certified Emergency Medical Responders and respond to all campus medical emergencies.The person that will thrive in this position will be team and customer service oriented with solid computer and technology skills.

Hours: Between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday, with the ability to occasionally work flexible hours as needed on other shifts.

*Shift differential applies to this role, depending on schedule.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Foster a safe and welcoming environment by providing excellent customer service to associates, tenants, visitors and the public.

  • Communicate effectively with others in-person, via portable radio, intercom, phone, email, and instant message.

  • Ensure the safety and security of the people and assets on campus by conducting frequent interior and exterior foot patrols, securing doors and locks and monitoring for suspicious or criminal activity.

  • Monitor all technology systems including life safety, card access, security cameras, protective intelligence applications and elevator equipment by completing initial troubleshooting and identifying and reporting problems to ensure systems are working effectively.

  • Respond to emergencies and incidents involving building operations, fire, security, medicals and weather. Summon fire, EMS and police response when needed and assist first responders as directed.

  • Prepare clear and professional incident reports, forms, logs and conduct basic investigations as needed.

  • Effectively and independently handle responsibilities consistent with documented policies and procedures.

  • Actively participate in required and elective training, drills and exercises to ensure readiness.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated communication, customer service and human relations skills to effectively interact with associates, tenants and visitors.

  • Ability to learn how to effectively operate the components of an integrated security system and command center.

  • Ability to provide accurate documentation; clear and concise written communications.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated ability to use good judgment to ensure effective response to security incidents and emergencies.

  • Ability to use discretion when dealing with critical, highly sensitive, and confidential information.

  • Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Intermediate-level computer skills, including proficiency with Excel, Teams, Word, Outlook, access control and security camera applications.

  • Fingerprinting and background checks will be conducted; employment is contingent on satisfactory background checks.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:

$18.27 - $31.73
