Coho Integrated Solutions is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) to join our team in supporting medical operations at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA. In this key role, you will help ensure the reliable performance and readiness of medical equipment, contributing to the efficient delivery of healthcare services in a dynamic military setting.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):



  • Currently NMC Portsmouth has over 13,400 pieces of medical equipment, to include defibrillators, pumps, wound vacuums and ventilators. Under minimal supervision, provide expert-level experience in the repair, calibration, and maintenance of medical equipment, instrumentation and support systems used at NMCP and its outlying clinics.
  • Test and calibrate components using manufacturers' manuals and troubleshooting techniques, hand tools, power tools and measuring devices.
  • Keep records of maintenance, repair, and required updates of equipment.
  • Inspect and test malfunctioning medical and related equipment following manufacturers' specifications, using test and analysis instruments.
  • Disassemble malfunctioning equipment and remove, repair and replace defective parts such as motors, transformers, and circuit boards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance or service such as cleaning, lubricating and adjusting equipment in accordance with OEM specifications.
  • Test, evaluate, and classify excess or in-use medical equipment and determine serviceability, condition, and disposition in accordance with regulations.
  • Respond to service calls within the hospital as assigned.


Essential Job Requirements:



  • Citizenship:

    • Proof of US Citizenship is required to work on this contract




  • Education/Certifications:

    • An associate degree in biomedical equipment technology or engineering required. OR
    • Participant in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship program; OR
    • High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT or mechanical equipment.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.




  • Required Knowledge/Experience:

    • Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician required.




  • Duty Hours:

    • Services shall be provided Monday through Friday for an 8.5-hour shift (to include an uncompensated 30-minute meal break), between the hours of 0600-1630.
