JOB SUMMARY

The Security Analyst is a member of the Information Security team. This early- to mid-career position focuses on incident response and vulnerability management, supporting the university's mission to protect its digital assets. This position ensure a secure computing environment for students, faculty, and staff.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitors, investigates, and responds to security incidents using tools such as Palo Alto XSIAM, Proofpoint TAP/TRAP/EFD, and Okta

  • Conducts vulnerability assessments and manages remediation efforts using Rapid7 InsightVM and other tools

  • Collaborates with managed service providers and internal IT teams to ensure timely resolution of security issues

  • Assists in the development and refinement of incident response playbooks and procedures

  • Participates in threat hunting and proactive security monitoring activities

  • Maintains accurate documentation of incidents, vulnerabilities, and response actions

  • Supports compliance efforts and contribute to security awareness initiatives

  • Performs other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Familiarity with SIEM platforms, EDR, email security, and identity management tools

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent collaboration abilities

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid environment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree

  • Two or more years of experience in cybersecurity, preferably in incident response or vulnerability management

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Certifications (e.g., Security+, CySA+, or equivalent)

  • Experience in higher education or other mission-driven environments

  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as FERPA, HIPAA, or NIST

  • Residency in or near the St. Louis, MO area
