We are seeking hard-working and dedicated full-time Construction Materials Engineering Technicians of all experience levels to join our Construction Services & Special Inspections team in Asheville, North Carolina.

Your Role:

Our Construction Materials Engineering Technicians are essential to getting the job done right. From day one, you'll be in the field helping ensure that the materials used to build everything from restaurants to stadiums meet the right standards for quality and safety.

  • Field & Lab Testing: Performing field and laboratory testing on construction materials like concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregates.
  • Sample Collection & Prep: Collecting and preparing samples for analysis.
  • Data Interpretation & Reporting: Interpreting test results and preparing detailed reports.
  • Team Collaboration & Compliance: Working closely with engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.



Job Levels and Requirements:



  • All Experience Levels:

    • Associate Technician/Technician I: 0-2 years of relevant experience
    • Technician II: 2+ years of relevant experience, OR equivalent experience, with an associate degree in a related field
    • Technician III: 3+ years of relevant experience, OR equivalent experience, with an associate degree in a related field
    • Technician IV: 5+ years of relevant experience. Experience in overseeing and mentoring junior staff, a plus


  • Attention to detail and good communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
  • Math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
  • The understanding of a fluctuating schedule and interest in occasional travel


Compensation and technician level will be based on experience and industry certifications (ACI, DOT, ICC)

You Must Be Willing and Able to:

Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as:



  • Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
  • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites



Experience shifting work hours based on project needs and weather conditions, including early mornings, some Saturdays, and overtime (paid at time and a half). Travel expenses (per-diem/lodging) are covered when assisting other offices.
