Position Summary
The HFS Financial Reporting Specialist will be responsible for compiling, analyzing, and presenting financial data and reports to Illinois Healthcare & Family Services (HFS) as requested or as contracted. This role will also serve as a liaison between DSCC and HFS Finance Teams, ensuring effective communication, compliance with state regulations, and timely submission of financial reports and data requests. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in building relationships with key stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Compile, analyze, and prepare accurate financial reports for submission to HFS. Ensure reports meet all regulatory requirements and deadlines.
  • Data Analysis: Review financial data for trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement. Provide insights and recommendations based on the analysis of financial data.
  • Agency Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact between DSCC senior leadership and HFS Finance and leadership. Foster positive relationships, communicate effectively, and ensure smooth collaboration between both parties.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all financial reports and data submissions comply with relevant laws, regulations, and policies. Keep track of regulatory changes that may impact financial reporting requirements.
  • Information Management: Maintain organized records of all financial documents, reports, and correspondence with HFS. Ensure proper filing, archiving, and retrieval of financial data.
  • Problem Resolution: Address any questions, concerns, or issues raised by HFS, working with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely resolution.
  • Reporting Systems: Assist in developing and maintaining systems or processes for tracking financial data and report generation, ensuring that data is accurate and readily accessible.
  • Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with DSCC finance, accounting, and operations teams to gather necessary data and ensure that reports are prepared correctly and reflect accurate financial performance.
  • Project Support: Participate in and support various financial projects, audits, and initiatives related to DSCC's partnership with HFS.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications

    1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.
    2. Five years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience.
    (NOTE: A Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.)
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree (preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in financial reporting, data analysis, or financial management. Experience working with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and/or financial consulting firms is highly preferred.
