The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are looking for a Senior Virtual Design Construction Manager in Seattle, WA. The Senior VDC Manager - Electrical leads the strategic integration of construction technology to drive innovation, efficiency, and operational excellence across the Electrical Construction Division. This role ensures that digital tools, Virtual Design Construction (VDC) operations, and emerging technologies are aligned with business objectives, enhance collaboration, and improve project outcomes. This Senior VDC Manager - Electrical is the liaison between Enterprise Business Technology team and the Electrical Construction Division. By fostering cross-functional partnerships and championing a culture of continuous improvement, this role plays a critical part in positioning McKinstry as a leader in construction technology innovation. Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Define, communicate, and implement a comprehensive strategy for digital transformation and construction technology across the Electrical Construction Division.

  • Champion the adoption of emerging technologies across the division to improve productivity, safety, and collaboration.

  • Partner with all internal supply chain team members (sales through aftercare services) to ensure digital workflows and tools are practical, scalable, standardized, impactful and align with enterprise goals and standards.

  • Identify inefficiencies in current workflows and implement digital solutions that streamline operations and reduce rework.

  • Provide oversight for the evaluation, testing, and scaling of Electrical Construction Division technologies, ensuring successful implementation and user adoption.

  • Lead all Electrical Construction Division VDC operations, ensuring alignment with project goals, quality standards, and company-wide strategic objectives.

  • Initiate and support the creation and enforcement of best practices, workflows, and KPIs to elevate the quality and consistency of VDC deliverables.

  • Serve as the internal and external voice of innovation in construction technology, representing the Electrical Construction Division at industry events and forums.

  • Partner with Enterprise Business Technology team to ensure all digital initiatives support broader business objectives, including cost control, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction.

  • Stay ahead of construction tech trends and assess their relevance and potential ROI for the Electrical Construction Division.

  • Provide regular updates to Electrical Construction Division Executive leadership on digital strategy opportunities, milestones, and outcomes, as well as general VDC departmental performance.

  • Promote the use of analytics and dashboards to inform project planning, forecasting, and performance tracking.

  • Inspire teams to embrace change, experiment with new tools, and continuously seek improvement through technology.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in the general field of construction technology with progressive advancement of responsibilities within an AEC environment.

  • Minimum 5 years of people management experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience required.

  • Demonstrated success with the implementation and integration of technology solutions, systems, and/or platforms.

  • Experience managing technology roadmaps, assessing vendor platforms, and leading cross-functional initiatives.

  • Advanced knowledge of construction software and technology required.

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft products including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Sharepoint, and Copilot.

  • Financial and analytical skills required.

  • Product management skills desired.

  • Outstanding written/oral, organizational, and analytical skills with an attention to detail.

  • Curiosity and interest in technology innovation to improve overall outcomes is a must.

  • Ability and willingness to travel.

  • Physical ability to walk jobsites in uneven terrain.

  • Provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from office; reimbursed.

The pay range for this position is $95,310 - $155,700 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
