This position is a remote overseas assignment on Ascension Island, South Atlantic Ocean, in support of daily, special test and launch operations with no family accommodations. Essential Functions

  • Lead and direct personnel responsible for operating and maintaining radar , communications, and telemetry systems on Ascension Island when the Station Manager is off island
  • Ensure the radar team is staffed with qualified personnel needed to successfully plan and manage operations and maintenance (O&M) directly supporting launches, landings, space object tracking and daily island operations
  • Work and team with Ascension Island U.S. Space Force leadership and contracted organizations ensuring RGNext personnel's living arrangements are acceptable; elevating issues and concerns to senior leadership in a timely manner
  • Monitor travel arrangements, accommodations and workflow of RGNext employees on temporary duty to the island ensuring all work assignments are accomplished within the established timeframe and resource allocation
  • Ensure all personnel are properly trained to execute their responsibilities and receive initial and recurring guidance, instructions, and direction needed to ensure quality and timely service to support scheduled operations in accordance with the operations and maintenance Enterprise Qualification Program (EQP)
  • Manage personnel in compliance with RGNext policies and procedures. Responsible for annual performance appraisals for direct reports
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to personnel unable to meet RGNext standards for ethics, technical quality, customer service, or timeliness
  • Monitor and manage duty hours to ensure personnel are not placing themselves or the Island mission at risk due to excessive work hours described in applicable Range Safety Manuals and handbooks
  • Ensure mission equipment is properly maintained in accordance with the Integrated Organizational and Depot Maintenance Plan (IODMP)
  • Ensure adequate operational spares, supplies and consumables are on hand to support O&M tasks and objectives
  • Monitor system performance during operations and ensure status reporting is accomplished in accordance with LISC Operating Instruction (LOI) for reporting range system status during launch operations and mission rehearsals and daily status reporting to Maintenance Control Center (MxCC) and the Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS)
  • Continually assess system capability with regard to emerging customer requirements and develop Requirement Statements (RS) when necessary to ensure future mission success
  • Monitor workflow to ensure delivery of products on time in accordance with contract requirements
  • Ensure work products are reviewed prior to release to ensure a quality product and consistency with RGNext operating instructions, policies, procedures, and organizational responsibilities
  • Participate in engineering project design reviews, integration and acceptance testing to help ensure quality product delivery
  • Vigorously pursue initiatives and innovations to improve the quality, efficiencies, and timeliness of Section products or services
  • Innovate process improvements ensuring contract compliance and fulfillment while devising and implementing process improvement methods
  • Quickly develop and integrate enterprise concepts and recommendations to capitalize on Eastern and Western Range best practices, efficiencies and standardization across the two Ranges
  • Prepare and provide progress, status reports, and briefings as required or requested, to inform management of anticipated performance problems or issues
  • Develop and maintain procedures and work instructions in accordance with applicable contract Performance Work Statement (PWS) and the Contract Deliverable (CDRL) requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Ability to quickly prioritize conflicting tasks, projects, and operations within the scope of assigned timelines, budget and personnel resources
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers, superiors, peers, and subordinates
  • Ability to organize and lead effective meetings and prepare clear oral and written direction, correspondence, and reports
  • Adept at public speaking and customer interaction with audiences ranging from RGNext and Government senior leadership through subordinate workforce
  • Ability to project a professional image when working with internal and external customers
  • Ability to be a self-motivated team player capable of working with minimum direct supervision
  • Team builder with orientation towards group dynamics to create synergy with assigned personnel while balancing stringent contract requirements, evolving task lists, and short turn time for mission requirements

Required Experience

  • BS degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Electronics, or similarly related equivalent technical discipline or a combination of education and experience
  • Five (5) or more years of range systems and/or operations experience
  • Ability to develop and maintain procedures and work instructions in accordance with applicable contract requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook)
  • Direct leadership/supervisory experience, preferred
  • Eastern Range operations and maintenance experience, preferred
  • Radar operations and/or maintenance experience, preferred
  • Experience leading and following safety and security policies and procedures, preferred

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Ability to move, transport, install and position equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to ascend/descend and traverse work areas at heights of 20 feet or more
  • Ability to drive manual transmission
  • DoD 8570 Certification (Security+ CE, or CISSP, or CASP), or ability to achieve certification within six months of employment
  • The flexibility to work frequent non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Current DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License
  • Valid U.S. passport
