The Communications Manager plays a key role in managing and executing integrated communications and marketing initiatives that advance ASGCT’s mission, strengthen brand awareness, and engage both scientific and general audiences. This position supports the Director of Communications in developing and implementing strategic, multiplatform content to ensure clear, consistent, and compelling messaging aligned with ASGCT’s goals, values, and voice.
The Communications Manager leads the day-to-day management of communications activities, including campaign execution, content planning, editorial quality, and brand consistency across channels. This role also contributes to campaign strategy, creative coordination, and vendor management to ensure that all communications efforts are cohesive, impactful, and aligned with organizational priorities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution of communications initiatives as part of integrated MarComms campaigns, ensuring messaging, channel execution, and quality standards are met in collaboration with MarComms leads.
- Develop and craft key messages and organizational narratives to ensure consistency across all channels and alignment with strategic communications goals.
- Write, assign, and curate multiplatform content highlighting ASGCT initiatives for both scientific and general audiences, ensuring all materials are clear, accurate, and aligned with AP and house style guidelines.
- Partner with internal teams and ASGCT committees to plan and coordinate campaigns, editorial calendars, and key MarComms initiatives, contributing to content strategy and ensuring cohesive, engaging, and strategically aligned communications.
- Manage and coordinate the Society’s content planning, development, and publishing across all communications platforms—including newsletters, podcasts, emails, social media, and press releases—to ensure a consistent and timely communication schedule.
- Oversee the planning, workflow, and editorial review of communications initiatives, managing schedules, approvals, and deliverables to ensure timely execution and alignment with organizational priorities.
- Support and maintain brand consistency across all communications channels by overseeing updates to web, social, and other content, ensuring alignment with ASGCT’s branding and visual identity standards.
- Support the Director of Communications in coordinating campaign creative and design, helping to facilitate timelines, review cycles, and processes with external vendors to ensure consistent branding and timely delivery of campaign assets.
- Support media relations efforts by monitoring coverage, coordinating with the Communications team and external PR partners, and managing media processes, including press materials, outreach logistics, and credentialing, for major Society events and announcements. Develop and monitor budgets in areas of responsibility to ensure efficient use of resources and alignment with strategic goals.

Required Skills and Experience
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing, or public relations.
- Experience in a nonprofit, scientific, healthcare, or association environment strongly preferred.
- Proven success managing multi-channel communication strategies, campaigns, and editorial processes.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with mastery of AP Style and the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences.
- Strong strategic thinking and content planning capabilities, including managing editorial calendars and integrated campaigns.
- Ability to translate complex scientific or technical content into accessible, engaging messages for varied audiences.
- Experience ensuring brand consistency and alignment across digital and print materials.
- Proficiency with digital communication tools, including email marketing platforms, content management systems (e.g., WordPress), and social media management tools.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships across departments and with external partners.
- Familiarity with analytics tools to measure engagement and inform communication strategies.
- Understanding of media relations, press release development, and journalist engagement best practices.
- Basic design literacy and experience working with creative assets (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or Canva) preferred.

Salary
The annual salary for this role starts at $75,000
