Engineering Forge Technician

As an Engineering Forge Technician, you will work closely with engineers and other technical staff to provide support in forging process and quality. Their primary purpose is supporting the manufacturing of parts through hydraulic presses. They will work with the forging team as well as design engineering, metallurgy, quality, and other departments to implement improvements in the forge shop. In addition, they will constantly look to improve current procedures and processes.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:




  • Monitor forging process and provide active communication between operations and engineering team.
  • Provide real-time inspections to validate forging process and quality.
  • Support development and improvement to forging process instructions and routing.
  • Execute plans for improvement projects both in the forge shop and throughout the entire plant. Activities will include mechanical design of tooling, workstations, and other apparatus used in manufacturing process.
  • Identify equipment issues that impact personnel safety and product quality. Support maintenance/facilities engineering during troubleshooting and correction.
  • Support root cause analysis and development of corrective actions for product which had difficulties during manufacturing or does not meet customer requirements. Manage various aspects of the implementation of corrective actions that result from this analysis.
  • Seek improvement opportunities and implement changes to manufacturing procedures to reduce cost, increase efficiency, improve safety, and reduce lead time. Work with forging department supervision, design engineering, metallurgy, quality, and other production departments to facilitate these changes.
  • Develop strong relations with all operating departments and personnel to ensure that shop floor manufacturing issues are addressed. Work to get buy-in from those directly affected by manufacturing changes.
  • Support capital projects in various areas of the plant.
  • Be an active participant in continually improving all aspects of the manufacturing operations.
  • Follow all safety guidelines set forth by ATI Forged Products.
  • Other job duties as assigned.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES




  • Ability to read blueprints required
  • Proficient with producing dimensioned drawings using common design software (AutoCAD & NX)
  • Participation in multidisciplinary team
  • Work in a manufacturing/production environment
  • Familiarity with KPI's and metrics
  • Experience with electrical and electronics a plus
  • Aptitude for problem solving & troubleshooting basic obstacles
  • Familiarity with metallurgical concepts preferred
  • Familiarity with pyrometry a plus
  • Familiarity with GD&T a plus
  • Proficient math skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to read and comprehend safety and work instructions



BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience will be considered)




  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or related technical discipline (mechanical or manufacturing engineering preferred)
  • Familiar with machining processes
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints
  • 1 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • 1-3 years of experience operating a forklift.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.


Salary Range: $31-$45

Work schedule: 5am-130pm
