The Process Control Engineer is responsible for managing the Process Control Systems and manufacturing support systems such: data historians, data integration and manufacturing execution systems. The process control engineer is responsible for ensuring that a production process and related equipment are running reliably and effectively. This includes monitoring equipment and process parameters, planning upgrades and maintenance, and developing and implementing changes that improve uptime and output quality.

How You Will Impact Ingevity:

  • Support plant operations by troubleshooting controls problems through tuning and implementation of basic or advanced control strategies. This involves the knowledge and use of Yokogawa DCS and AB PLC configuration tools or similar

  • Maintain understanding of the plant process operating requirements, and communication with operations and maintenance team members. This includes engineers, supervisors, operators, and maintenance technicians

  • Actively participate on project teams as process control engineer and provide technical support in developing new control strategies and developing technical specifications for new installations

  • Support the tracking and reporting of production and plant performance metrics

  • Performs analysis on manufacturing methods and troubleshoots manufacturing issues

  • Establish communications and maintains network support for the process control network

  • Manage and execute capital projects at the Covington facility

  • Provide engineering expertise to Operations and Maintenance to help resolve various operating problems

  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, management and other project stake holders on an ongoing basis.

  • Leads implementation of engineering standard practices

  • Provides technical support to the Operations Team, through problem solving and Continuous Improvement methods

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience as a Process Controls Engineer in a plant setting

  • Be an active and engaged safety leader to build and maintain a strong safety culture to achieve zero personal and process safety incidents

  • Basic knowledge of the various types of pressure, level, temperature, and flow instrumentation

  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

  • This role is eligible for relocation.

  • This role is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. The successful candidate must not now, or in the future, require sponsorship to work in the US.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • 10 years Production/Manufacturing experience with emphasis on project management preferred

  • Experience with SAP MII module and/or other manufacturing execution systems preferred

  • Experience working with CAD skills are preferred

  • Experience with Yokogawa Centum VP DCS and Rockwell PLC systems preferred

  • Experience with Advanced Process Control techniques preferred

  • Strong technical knowledge of OSISoft PI system tools and other manufacturing supports systems preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting at a desk for 8 hours

  • Standing for 12-16 hours

  • Climbing stairs and ladders

  • Walking for 2-8 hours per day

Work environment

  • Office setting, outdoors manufacturing plant setting, hazardous chemicals environment, construction site setting
