Essential Functions 
 
 
   
  - Responsible for providing legal counsel and guidance on day-to-day corporate activities and special situations.
 - Analyzes legal matters arising in connection with project pursuit and execution and provides advice and counsel to project management and Senior executives.
 - Participates in evaluation, negotiation and integration of mergers and acquisitions.
 - Support the legal and risk management functions for the organization to include contracts, licensing, insurance and bonding.
 - Negotiates, writes and executes agreements and contracts on behalf of the company.
 - Researches and advises on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with different contracts/agreements; anticipates unique legal issues that could impact the company.
 - Negotiates various types of contracts, teaming agreements, prime contracts, subcontracts and joint venture agreements.
 - Be an active leader for construction and/or engineering claims and disputes with contractors, owners and subcontractors.
 - Supports special projects, such as research, transactional documentation, and supports changes in guidelines, policies, procedures and presentations.
 - Supports in implementing MWH legal and risk policies, processes and procedures.
 - Provides/facilitates training to job site leadership on legal topics.
 
   
  
 
 Basic Qualifications 
 
 
   
  - J.D. degree and license to practice law.
 - Minimum 5-10 years of related work experience within an engineering or construction company or a law firm in the construction and/or engineering field.
 - Requires a comprehensive knowledge of industry business practices and the negotiation of prime contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, joint venture agreements, project management agreements, parent company guarantees, and related contracts.
 - Proven construction claims preparations, negotiations and settlement skills.
 - Strong negotiating skills with both legal and financial/commercial issues.
 - Strong understanding of construction insurance and bonding.
 - Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization.
 - Strong written and oral communication skills and an ability to interact with and provide counsel to senior management.
 - Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization's legal department and across all businesses.
 - Possess a practical, commercial and solution oriented, problem-solving approach.
