Job Description: The Manager of Data Engineering at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Franklin, WI will manage a team of professional data engineers and contribute to team goals as an individual contributor. Accountable for team performance and results and will set team priorities and direction. Oversee primary support of data pipelines on Unified Data Platform. Meet with customers to understand data needs and prioritize data requests on a day-to-day basis. Set standards for solution quality. Apply engineering best practices to analyze, design, develop, deploy, and support software solutions. Develop software using continuous deployment and integration practices. Oversee agile implementation and maintenance of source control and release procedures. Oversee code reviews and providing feedback to team. Develop ETL processes and implementing data quality controls. Oversee fixes, design data audits, data analysis, and data profiling to understand data and anomalies. Practice Lean Agile Leadership in an Agile environment and utilize Agile methodologies in DevOps environment. Adapt divisional plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Provide technical guidance to employees, colleagues, and customers. Guide team career development and handle performance management process. Telecommuting permitted 2 days per week. Salary $152,786- $229,190 per year.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus 5 years of experience as a data engineer or in a related occupation. Experience must include 5 years with each of the following: (1) database structures, principles and practices; (2) data warehousing, ETL best practices, and ETL integration patterns and tooling to support batch and real-time data needs; (3) developing ETL processes and implementing data quality controls; (4) test plan creation and maintenance that adheres to software and quality testing standards and test management; (5) explaining technical solutions to technical teams and non-technical teams; (6) Lean Agile Leadership in Agile environment; and (7) Agile methodologies in DevOps environment.
