Summary: As a Sales Consulting Lead, you play a critical role in driving sales results through proactive outreach, advanced relationship management, training delivery, and strategic field engagement in partnership with our in-field Sales Professionals. You bring expert-level knowledge of risk products and their application across diverse client needs and advisor practices. In this senior role, you mentor peers, influence sales strategy, and lead complex engagements that contribute to growth in premium, new clients, and product adoption. You partner closely with field leadership, Field Growth and Engagement, and internal stakeholders to execute targeted campaigns, deepen advisor commitment, and differentiate Northwestern Mutual's offerings in a competitive market. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead by example through proactive field engagement, advanced consultative selling, and consistent execution of sales tactics that drive advisor growth and product placement. Act as a strategic partner to external wholesalers, jointly managing complex advisor relationships and aligning efforts to maximize impact across the territory. Provide mentorship and support to fellow Sales Consultants, sharing best practices, onboarding new team members, and contributing to team-wide learning initiatives. Deliver high-impact training and field consultation that demonstrates expert-level product knowledge, proposal execution, and positioning strategies aligned to advisor needs. Independently analyze performance metrics, territory trends, and advisor engagement to identify growth opportunities and optimize sales activity. Cultivate deep, influential relationships with advisors and field leadership, positioning yourself as a trusted business partner in planning and product conversations. Maintain expert understanding of risk products, competitive landscape, and market dynamics to anticipate advisor challenges and proactively offer solutions. Collaborate effectively across departments to influence internal processes, improve advisor experience, and drive business results through shared accountability. Travel: 5-10%
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, marketing, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 8 years of experience in a financial sales environment, with a proven track record of driving sales through consultative engagement and strategic execution. FINRA Series 6 required. Deep expertise in financial services products and solutions, with the ability to translate complex planning scenarios into actionable product strategies. Demonstrated success in mentoring peers, leading initiatives, and contributing to team-wide performance and development. Exceptional ability to consult with advisors and field leaders on advanced planning cases, positioning solutions that address diverse client needs. Skilled in analyzing sales data, identifying trends, and adjusting territory or campaign tactics accordingly. Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence both internal stakeholders and external partners. Familiarity with CRM and analytics tools (e.g., Field Relationship Management, Insights, PowerBi) to manage engagement and track outcomes. Confident and polished presenter, effective across individual consultations, team training, and advisor-facing engagements. Professional designations such as CLU, ChFC, CFP, CFA, CASL, or MSFS strongly preferred.

$172,250.00
